2011/2012 Formation Discussions

3-4-3 is a no-no IMO.We are not suited for it...This is the only acceptable form of it.



Chivu over Rano is logical IMO because Samuel is too slow to be out on the left and has the perfect qualities for a sweeper.Rest is clear...


A 4-3-3 here...Gasperini practiced it before.With our players it would look a bit like this...



Not looking bad,hopefully a new right winger...Criscito seems realistic now so I included him there.

4-4-2 Diamond is common to us but unlikely IMO,Gasperini likes width....



And my dream formation,I was hoping Leo would practice it but now it seems unlikely...Brazilian 4-2-2-2



This one is so perfect for us...Strong backline,2 great DM's to protect it,2 free role wide drifting playmakers for creativity,2 killer strikers with Eto'o finally free of creative and defensive tasks...One of Kaka or Coutinho would work instead of Ganso too...

they did say they would buy a world class player and a few youngsters

3 man defense........ The thought of 3 man defense makes me tremble with fear.
Although with Samuel back in the team we can make that a 4 man defense.... Since Samuel counts for 2 defenders in 1.

3 man defense in Serie A is just ridiculous, not to mention the midfield is crap in the 3-4-3.

I hear Hazard coming.

i'd hope for some new signings though, and sales of pandev, milito & chivu etc

having 3 cb's won't be the formations problem. the main problems will be the players getting used to it and the midfield not being very technical/creative. maicon and naga will have so much work to do. they need to defend, attack and help create moves in equal amounts

Looks good to me, We could have Coutinho switch with Sneijder, plus Rannochia will gain a lot of skill and experience playing next to the two greatest CB's.

Maicon on the wing? Meh
Zanetti tracking up and back? Meh

That speaks enough about the midfield.

I was never a fan with a 3 man Mid. But let Gasperini do as he wishes. All I can tell you is that Ranocchia fits perfect in a 3 Man mid. And hopefully with Gasp he will keep growing.

Nagatomo is an excellent wing back
Maicon plays as a wing back as it is, so basically nothing changes there
I wouldnt include Zanetti in my XI...Motta/Cambiasso in the middle

3 man defenses will destroy all those serie a teams that use static 4312s...3v2 advantage at the back, numerical advantage in midfield, un-accounted for wide players, triangles all over the fking pitch

The possibilities are exciting, our only issue would be CB depth
