lol this thread is thoroughly amusing...

Cesc is essentially saying that his acceleration is not good and is often not able to beat his marker or move with the ball into space or move into space himself to receive a pass in tight situations. These are the qualities that Xavi and Iniesta have in abundance.

To compensate for this lack of acceleration, he says has to keep moving around the pitch and not wait in any static position to receive the ball and turn and pass.

This explains the lack of incisiveness in the final third last season, especially with the likes of Villa injured. I wonder how Tito will integrate him to the system this season.

To my recolection, Cesc never played in the CM roles anyway. He played on top of the midfield diamond as sort of a "false 10" who made direct runs forward and also as a false 9 forward.

Barcelona just asked for trouble signing Cesc. They didn't need him and it seemed as it was mostly out of vanity or principle.

Cesc doesn't suit ticky tacka, he is too English for it

cesc played really well first half of the season. He has shown, he can play well for Barca.

A little competition since now villa, pedro are back will do him good.
imo; he didnt play that badly last season, he missed a few sitters tho, nothing to do with the system.

People criticise his move to barca but i feel without him last season, villa and pedro injured ,Barca would have been far worse off. Even thierry struggled at first at barca.

if xavi or iniesta get injured (God forbid) for > 4 weeks, What then?
