They can also play for the club with playing for the manager.

With the majority of the newspapers writing about Mourinho as if his return to Chelsea is done and dusted, it would be hilarious if we get someone else instead

That's what happened in 2011.
Don't be surprised when it happens this summer as well

Mourinho officially signed Chelsea contract on Tuesday night to become next Blues boss:

Nice try, Beasley, but we're not falling for it

Michael Emenalo offers to resign from Chelsea; Abramovich refuses:

Very interesting development if true.

Re: The Official 'Next Permanent Manager' Thread
Interesting, It would give Mourinho total control, for sure. I don't see why they cannot work together though.
Also, you call us delusional yet post rumour upon rumour of Jose's arrival while denying it will happen?

As for Emenalo, I'm happy he's staying. It means the longer-term, youth recruitment project of the last several years won't have been a waste and be completely ruined like it would be in Mourinho's hands.
Give him complete control over everything and we'll end up another Real Madrid.

Re: The Official 'Next Permanent Manager' Thread
Perhaps it means Chelsea are looking at Jose long term if they see him as DoF as well as manager? Or should I say Emanelo saw it that way.

Fergie first to be told about Jose's desire to leave Real and return to Chelsea:

Re: The Official 'Next Permanent Manager' Thread
That's right, fanboy
I think it's pretty clear Abramovich paid Mourinho and his assistants to attend the Play-Off Final at Wembley and make themselves seen by the cameras so as to hasten the Swansea directors and drive down the compensation fee for Laudsy

Re: The Official 'Next Permanent Manager' Thread
Jose's Assistant manager at Madrid, Aitor Karanka, came up with this recently:
And in other news, an unnamed assistant has apparently said this:
Yep. Laudrup is coming....for sure.....
"If I leave, then I’ll join Mourinho at Chelsea, or else I’ll go and become head coach at a French top division club."
And in other news, an unnamed assistant has apparently said this:
"We’re travelling to London on Sunday or Monday when we’ll be presented as Chelsea’s new coaching team.
"Mourinho wants to enjoy the good relationship he knows he can have in England and which he didn’t have in Spain."
Yep. Laudrup is coming....for sure.....

Re: The Official 'Next Permanent Manager' Thread
Well considering the first is from the mouth of Mourinho's right hand man, I imagine it's the truth, the second I am not sold on but it confirms many reports which say Jose will be named manager tomorrow or Monday.
