Goalkeeper
Arsenal are looking in this area, competition for Szczesny is the requirement here, whether Fabianski is too injury prone or Wenger has lost faith in anyone's guess but here's the names in the frame
Ali-Al Habsi - Has auditioned well for his prospective new team in recent weeks by chucking a few into his own goal. I would see him as being maybe the most likely in terms of price and name value, I don't think Szczesny would kick off too much if he was bought in.
Jose Reina - This link never goes away, whether Liverpool would let him go, wages etc or even would he be prepared to move for competition as his age.
Asmir Begovic - The dark horse in the three. This comes from a very good person so not to be discounted.
Defenders
Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa - Gilles Grimandi has been seen in Montpellier a few times now and the rumours are that he's watching captain Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa or midfielder Younes Belhanda. Yanga-Mbiwa has recently penned a new deal to maximize the money Montpellier get from him, I always expected him to leave in the summer but Montpellier's elimination from the Champions League may bring this one forward.
Jetro Willems - Controversial one here, while all in sundry believe Arsenal's presence in Eindhoven has been all about midfielder Kevin Strootman, I've been told it's also to run the run over emerging left-back Jetro Willems. Andre Santos faces an uncertain time and could return to Turkey in January so Willems would provide cover and competition for Gibbs.
Midfielders
Mohamed Diame - Thankfully his hamstring injury may see him out for weeks rather than months. Cut-price release fee makes the most sense for Arsenal.
Luis Gustavo - I would love to see this happen. Set the Bundesliga alight at Hoffenheim before moving to Bayern, would definitely give the bite to the Arsenal midfield

And some people are against signing Huntelaar
Not only would he have smashed that home in his sleep, he'd hit it with such power, that the ball would rip through the net, carve the stand in half and still be travelling around the world today as "Hunters Comet"

Manchester United prepare to join the race for Arsenal winger Theo Walcott
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/arsenal/9738497/Manchester-United-prepare-to-join-the-race-for-Arsenal-winger-Theo-Walcott.html
------------------------
So Theo is gone, United comes for you, its over.
The attraction for Walcott of joining Manchester United is obvious. United are six points clear at the top of the Premier League and Walcott said earlier this season that he was missing Van Persie at Arsenal.
Cant blame him for this, Good luck Theo.

Re: The Official Arsenal Winter Transfers/Rumours Thread
Rumors emerging or being reprinted, perhaps baselessly, that Guardiola has "informed" Arsenal they're his preferred English club should he return to management next summer. I don't expect this to happen at all, but Pep is enough of a purist and a visionary that, while it's highly unlikely, it's not inconceivable he'd turn down bigger budgets and prestige elsewhere to take over the whole "project" at Arsenal. The only way I can see AW leaving Arsenal in the summer is if he fails to win any silverware (the FA Cup) and also finishes below 4th. If that occurs ... then we might really see the end of the Wenger era. Guardiola would be one of the very, very few managers I could still feel OK about replacing Wenger.

Re: The Official Arsenal Winter Transfers/Rumours Thread
Let's say we lose these players in January:
Arsha
Theo
Gervais
Chamakh
That leaves our striking options at
Giroud
Wingers at
Podolski
Ox
Why wouldn't Zaha, Henry and Huntelaar be the perfect trio to sign in January then? Maybe Adrian too or in one of their places.

What is Arsenal wage scale for managers? Pep will want to get paid at the same level as Mourinho...

Wenger is extremely well-paid: it's one wage area where Arsenal even today are competitive with the other big clubs!

Arsenal could probably meet Guardiola's wage demands, but whether they'd give him the necessary backing in the transfer market is another matter entirely.

He's made some awful moves in the transfer market. Eto'o and 45 mil for Ibra and then failing to use him properly.
A run at Arsenal would be exactly what Pep would need to prove his success wasn't solely the result of the players he had as we are Barcelona lite in all manners

Re: The Official Arsenal Winter Transfers/Rumours Thread
Seeing Gervinho's antics, playing The Hunter on the wing doesn't seem such an absurd thing now.
We wouldn't be in such a position if certain players *cough* Poldi Ox Ramsey Gervinho *cough* weren't playing out of positions or without confidence.
THIS team is capable of achieving a top 4 finish and a long cup run.
You see teams like WBA and Swansea working on a budget 1/10 of ours yet still produce an acceptable performance even against the big boys.
It's all down to the management (not necessarily Wenger) not doing their job properly and being complacent.
Our tactical, physical and even mental state is not up to scratch and it really reflexes on our abysmal performances of late.

I still want Wenger at the helm tbh, but two clear advantages Pep would bring is his ability to attract WC talent and his tactical knowledge.
Pep's ability to work on limited resources is a whole another matter though.

Wenger will not quit, and the board will not fire him. The Arsenal board does not care about trophies, if we dont make CL they just raise the Tickets prices.
The fans should stop going to Arsenal games.

I highly, highly doubt Pep is coming to Arsenal... another wet dream that won't happen. He's not going to a) take a wage cut and b) put his rep on the line with a team that won't spend. It would make no sense for his career.

Uh... why would Arsenal want Nani at all.. He holds onto the ball way too long, is selfish, dives like no other, and he will probably want over 100 k/w.
