Sturridge Goal on his debut

His goal was an instinctive class finish.. when given more time to pick his shot later on he seemed to psyche himself out and overthink it. Looks like a player a wee bit short on confidence, so hopefully Rodgers can work with him as he did with Henderson and Downing (of late) to get him confident and going.

I liked Sturridge at Chelsea he got a lot of flack but still scored quite a few goals never really understood the amount of bashing he got. If he works on his team play the sky is the limit for him in my opinion.

The fact that he has a "instinctive finish" is precisely what we need. The other early opportunity should've been converted, but he is understandably a little low on confidence. Should be sorted with a little more time on the pitch with Rodgers.

It should be noted that he looked to be fitting into the style very well at times. He was making the right moves to maintain passing options, keeping himself available, etc. The understanding with his teammates was (understandably) lacking, resulting in one or two mistimed runs and errant passes. However, the "selfishness" that was a major criticism of his game didn't show up today. In fact, on several occasions, he drew defenders off or attempted to create for other players.

On the whole, there were a lot of positives to be taken from his first 60 minutes in an LFC shirt, not the least of which was his debut goal.
