Pshhh, I posted how excited I was about Martinez under Pep in his player thread :p

But Arquitecto writes full essays on each post so it looks like he knows what he is talking about,so he will get all the credit. Smile

Can't wait to see Neuer to become the best ball playing goalkeeper in the world. BADstuber will stay. Kroos may play a similar role to Iniesta. He will be a joy to watch. It will be interesting to see how he uses Ribery and Muller (false 9 probs) and whether he keeps Gomez. Who will be the dictating centre mid? Schiewi? Or will they buy one?

Kroos will be dictating centre mid. Schweini just might get dropped to the bench....or to DM.

Might sound a bit ludicrous....but I think if Ribery has a role to play in this team, it might be part of a midfield 3 in the Iniesta role. I don't see him being utilized effectively on the wing. Personally I see him being relatively successful.

He hasn't done what's necessary in that role for France.

Imagine if he took over at City and asked Joe Hart to pass it out of defense like Valdez does.Joe Hart is one of the worst keepers in the modern game when it comes to playing it out from the back, all he can do is hoof it.

I could actually see him doing that role actually he has all the skillsets for it.

I'm going to post these snippets too....

Pep Guardiola's agent José Maria Orobitg : "Bayern is not the club that offered the most money."

What if Pep doesn't play Tiki-taka with Bayern? For the most part, I don't think he can make this team a replica of Barcelona through the middle with the attacks. Ribery, Robben, Mueller and Shaqiri are too dominant in one on one situations on the wing (along with Alaba and Lahm bombing down the flank) to take that away from Bayern.

That said, Schweinsteiger and Kroos are the ideal central mids to play through the middle and keep possesion. I love this signing and it will be fun to see what happens next season.

€17m a year,Just wow lol.Would he officially become the highest paid coach then ?

Any chances of him luring some of his Barca 'favorites' at Bayern ? Maybe someone like Pedro or Busquets(lol) ?

Nah i don't see Pep buying from Barca unless the players are unwanted.

Busquets they would never sell and with Javi Martinez and also Emre Can coming through i fail to see how Bayern would need him.

Pedro might become a possiblity if they buy Neymar or something and he goes down the pecking order but even so do Bayern need him? i don't think so.

According to Honigstein the financial payout from Bayern & Adidas will be 8-10M a year.

The Catalan's will be the best paid manager in the history of the club. If reports about a separate sponsorship deal for him by Bayern's kit supplier and 9% share owner Adidas are correct, his package is likely to be €8m-10m per year

8-10m isn't that bad tbh, most top coaches these days for top clubs get around that ball park.

17m would have been nuts Laughing but 8-10 is about what i'd expect.

1. José Mourinho (Real Madrid15,3)
2. Carlo Ancelotti (PSG 13,5)
3. Marcello Lippi (Guangzhou Evergrande 10)
4. Alex Ferguson (Manchester United 9,4)
5. Arsene Wenger (Arsenal 9,3)
6. Guus Hiddink (Anzhi 8,3)
7. Fabio Capello (Russia 7,Cool
8. Tito Vilanova (Barcelona 7)
9. Jose’ Antonio Camacho (China 5,9), Roberto Mancini (Manchester City 5,9)

17M sounds crazy because it's Bayern, if it were City or Chelsea we would all accept the number with ease.

See, Bayern is a serious club. They made a serious offer and probably gave Guardiola the autonomy and time that he wanted.

I love how coaching had suddenly become easy...

Can someone remind me why exactly Pep left Barcelona in the first place - did stress not have something to do with it? I'm not denying that he took one of the better jobs, but to use the word "easy", that's a joke to me. I don't think any coaching job in professional sports is easy. Why should Pep go coach a club that lacks the players, funds, identity that he is looking for? I understand the challenge aspect of it, but I also understand wanting to put yourself in a position to succeed. If he wins at Bayern it won't be because he took the easy route, it will be because he focused on the task at hand and got the job done (a job in which you can't control the results - a job where you have to rely on players to understand what you want from them).

Mourinho is underrated now ffs. Only at GL. He's great at what he does, he's just not a god, and due to his "win now" mentality he doesn't have the ability to plan for the long term. Credit must be given for trying to form an attacking team in Madrid, but his lack of attacking ideas has been exposed, and he'd do best to return to a plan akin to his times at inter. But he's still a top manager and one any struggling team would take in a heartbeat.

On topic, a few notes by his agent:
-The deal was signed by Dec 20th
-FCB was not the club that offered the most amount of money, but Pep picked them due to their players and organization
-He confirmed meetings with Milan and Roma, and others
-Raul will not become his assistant

Except for Bayern being second to Barcelona, I agree with everything you said. Personally, if he was going to go to a big "real" club to start his next project I thought Milan was the logical choice.

Still not sure how I feel about this, but if he ends our Champions League drought then he can do whatever he wants. Hopefully any success he brings to the club carries over to the German National Team.

Thank you Toffer.

Javi initially was wanted by Guardiola during his Barcelona managing days yet didn't work out for financial reasons.

I'm assuming you've seen enough of Pep's Barcelona and Busquets to understand the role that Javi will potentially fill in. Disregarding Javi moving back to CB since he is so vital in midfield, Pep will eventually develop him into that role I predict if not converting him into a Sweeper role in a 3 man backline. You may be wondering why a 3 man but Pep did play a 3 man (3-4-3) in his final year out of experimentation.

So along with Muller and Kross, it will be Javi's development the most interesting to see in Pep's tactics since arguably he will be the most tactical focal point as was Busquets for Barcelona.

Guardiola to Bayern - Page 7 Empty Re: Guardiola to Bayern

Post by VivaStPauli Thu Jan 17, 2013 5:52 am

I'm torn.
First off, I really want Bayern to be coached by a German.
Secondly, I'm not a huge fan of tiki-taka.

Those are the negative points, both of which are hugely subjective.
The positive ones are more objective.

Pep knows his shit. He has shown to be tactically adept, and he is a man with a vision, and people know this about him. Even Rumenigge and Hoeness will know this. So he's far less likely to get rage-sacked than a lot of other managers, which is good. Because Bayern have been abramovitchesquely enthusiastic about sacking coaches for the last decade or so.

Even though I doubt he'll just try to play the same tiki-taka he did with Barca, he will most likely focus on possession, this fits Bayern.
I always look at the changes in Bayerns system from the perspective of the German NT.
And it will not hurt us if Bayerns midfielders learn how to hold on to the ball even better.

Of course Bayern will play differently to Barca. Their wingers are too good to not do it.
But they do have similarities.

Kroos and Schweinsteiger aren't Xavi, but they do like to occupy similar positions, and they are both excellent playmakers. Sure, together they'd sit deeper than Xaviesta, traditionally, but they could form just as fruitfull a relationship.

Bring the false 9 to Bayern? No problem. There's Müller, Shaqiri, hell, maybe even Robben.

There's all manner of experiments to be made. This is hugely exciting.
Though I only like this move because Heynckes retires. Otherwise I would've much preferred him. I just don't think the Bundesliga needs more "flair", as Hoeness put it. I much prefer grit.
