Can the BL pass them in the UEFA coefficient? The lead isn't that large and with the 08/09 season coming off the books, the lead could evaporate pretty quickly.

Well surely you can't argue that Ligue 1 is better than serie A.

This is Co-efficient points gained from competing in Europe, when's the last time a ligue 1 team won the CL or got to the final? And it's not like they're dominating in the Europa either.

Everyone is going on about the CL but the EL is just as important for coefficients. There is only 1 German left in the EL compared to 3 english.

Agreed. Atleast 4 spots, whice 2 are automatic and 2 are with qualification round(s).

European football isnt the same if big, legendary sides arent there.

Italy should earn that 4th spot rather than demand it. Germany deserves it because of the results they have obtained. The usual arguments about why Italy lost the 4th spot are a) Italy doesn't care b) Italian teams have no depth & c) the economic incentives are not strong enough. Well, if you don't care then you shouldn't be butthurt when you lose that 4th spot. The economic incentives are the same for both leagues so why should Italians see them differently than Germans? If Italian teams don't have enough depth what enables the German teams to have enough depth to compete? Perhaps Italy should look north and make a note or twenty about how to run a league.

Serie A will get their 4th spot back pretty soon, they are doing better in the EL (except Napoli ) and now with Juve back, the CL results will be better as well.

So how does the EL count for co-efficient points, but international football and the NextGen Series don't?How about we play pin the donkey's tale for extra CL places then

But,giving credit where due,Bundesliga found a loophole and exploited it,can't fault them.

International football has nothing to do with club competitions.

EL counts less than UCL.

It's not a "loophole" to win more games than the other guys do. That's just working as intended.

I think most people agree the Co-eff system is flawed, and stupid. However, serie A clubs are guilty of not dealing with it and rest nearly every key player in hopes of fighting for a CL place.

Clubs like Napoli are to blame but it doesn't mean the system isn't a joke.

This is not the case. A win or draw the EL gives the same amount of points as a win/draw in CL

Well, I will defo keep my fingers crossed for Basel in the EL. They managed to win Switzerland a direct CL spot back, so we can hopefully expect Basel back in the CL group stage next season banana

(And defeating Zenit is a must anyway ^^)

teams get 4 bonus points for reaching the group stages of the cl and 5 bonus points for making it out of the groups stages. So for example Doneszk earned 9 points (4 wins/1draw) more in the cl than they would have in the el.

With all the great teams in the competition, many from the better leagues that eliminated or will eliminate all the English teams in the CL, why would you think that? Are you making a joke? From what I see, English and British teams are just not that good.
