Sabatini didn't see him as worth 12m and rightly so.

He was only willing to go as high as 10, Velez played hard ball so we walked.

Lamela will be a much, much better signing at roughly the same price, providing Passarella doesn't pull a fast one on us.

Likewise, Arsenal's final offer was something like £8,000,000.. Wenger may have saw something in him - it's how this whole thing started, actually - but obviously not enough to go that little bit further with the fee.

If he ends up being a great player, I will look back on Arsenal not signing him with regret. However, given that I know nothing about him, I am actually kind of relieved we didn't take a risk with someone like this. Good luck with Inter!

Sabatini apparently offered 12 + bonuses with a 1.5 per year contract...Some guy Di Marzio says.He also says Alvarez was practically an Arsenal player when Inter came into the picture.He changed his mind due to Argentinian influence in Milano...
