As great a record as he's got. He's definitely stat padding like crazy. 30 out of the 40 have been in friendlies. Not his fault obviously but still....

^ This. Also if neymar's start padding then why arent others doing it? I mean, its not like other players play only against the likes of spain, itay and germany and colombia all the time, nor do most of their goals come from competitive games. Its mainly about 20% (or little over) of goals in competitive games for an elite player..all players would play 80% of games against average/scrub teams..do you even realize that nerman is freaking 22? With 40 goals and 23 assists in 57 games? Thats some unreal shit in modern football tbh..who is great is great.
