Wasn't that because of prime GL hype (or me hype lol)though lol? Suppose you could make the same argument here with Firenze though.

won't play older FF titles because not a fan of turn based combat

although I played FFX on PS Vita for an hr and actually own a copy for PS2 from release but I never played games besides GTA back in those days

If you are interested in non-turn based FFs, Crisis Core is absolutely GOAT. Its the prequel to FF7 and its an action RPG. With FF7 remake coming up (which also won't be turn based) its a good time to check it out.
