Who knows? Maybe Perez is just being a dick because Wenger turned him down a few times in the past.

Even a club as wealthy as Madrid would want a sizeable fee for one of their best players, but it's highly frustrating, especially when the player has the desire to leave. It's almost like they're stalling so Chelsea or City come in for him... or they sense that there's a lot of pressure and expectation on Arsenal to get this done and feel like they could use that to squeeze more money out of us.

The worry now is that Arsenal will stick to their valuation of the player and the deal will collapse.

Maybe we should start a #FreeHiguain campaign.

Where'd you get that impression? The deal wouldn't have progressed this far if the player wasn't interested in joining. The player himself has already publicly announced his intention to move to another club. I don't know what else Higuain can do in this situation.

Usually when these deals happen, the player comes out and says something about the club along the lines of they are a good club blah blah blah or it would be a good challenge. So far we haven't heard anything from him, nada, zero, zilch.

I don't recall hearing anything from Monreal or Cazorla before we signed them. Players usually make comments when they're (or their agents) angling for a move, but when a deal is happening there's usually silence.
