I am a little worried about our amount of Cm/DM's at present. With MVG joining, I doubt we'll see Oscar or KDB playing CM but that still leaves Mikel, Ramires, Romeu, Van Ginkel, Lampard and Essien for two spots.

I think we'll see Romeu loaned but that still leaves us with 5 and if we bring in a DM, we're back to 6 again. I have been under the impression, with Paulo retiring, Essien would be a back up RB mostly, this would bring us back to 5 but with at two players missing out on making the bench, I could see a few unhappy CM's throughout the season.

Lampard might be ok with it but I can't imagine one of; Mikel, Ramires or Van Ginkel being ok with it as all three will want to play as much as possible to get the chance to go to Brazil.

Basically, I am saying, if we want to buy another DM, we're gonna have to loan Romeu and maybe sell Mikel, first.

With all that said, let's worry about buying a CF first.

Lamps is 35 and will unequivocally not be starting every game, Essien is finished, there are strong rumours in the last 24 hours that Romeu is off to Valencia on loan, and there are still question marks about Mikel and Ramires. CM is our weakest position next to CF, both in quality and in depth. Not worried one bit. In fact, the only thing I would be worried about is the lack of options there, not an exorbitance of them.

I am not too worried about Ess or Lamps, I think both know they cannot be starters, I am more worried that if we sign say, DDR or Bender, we'll have that DM, MVG, Ramires and Mikel all wanting to start in order to play in Brazil, and we either try to satisfy them by playing all four as much as possible, which would stop Lampsy or Ess from playing much, or we bench two and one gets very unhappy with the amount of game time.

Hence why I said we should sell Mikel and loan Romeu.

DM, Van Ginkel, Ramires, Lampard and Essien would be a decent midfield with enough quality and depth imo. RLC, KDB and Oscar can play there when needed too.

Also, Mourinho is not known for his rotation which is another reason for my concern.

The only half we need be concerned about is the defensive one, for me. With KDB and Oscar and now Van Ginkel I feel we have enough for the less-defensive side of the pivot, but at present, assuming Romeu is off, we have 1 competent, natural defensive mid, who himself isn't even exactly a world-beater. I'll be shocked if another is signed this summer.

I am going to assume you mean you'll be shocked if we don't buy a DM, I would be too.
I suppose Having a new DM + Van Ginkel starting with Ramires acting as super sub would be decent. Mikel has always been content with his role and I don't think Lampard will mind too much, Still leaves Essien in the dark. Laughing

I still think we should concentrate on signing a CF, then go for DDR or another DM, then move for a GK and Shaw on a loanback.

That would be a perfect summer.
