Billionares in football in modern day economics.

With the crumbling American dollar, the greatest transfer of wealth of all time happening right now that the history of the world has even seen and the gradual collapse of the euro dollar, taking into account all of the these factors which, in my opinion are going to have a major influence on society in the immediate medium and long term future of the world. Why are billionares ( who would definately know how stock markets work, whats going to happen in the future with economies etc) deciding to take such an interest and invest such large amounts of money into football and indeed sport around the world? Is there an alterior motive?
