who is the best play maker/regista in BPL

This thread shoulb be closed after I mentioned Gerrard.

There's no way it's Allen because he's being benched by Stevie on that role. Allen is playing a dynamic midfielder role, not the regista for us.

Gtfo Joe Allen is the natural Pirlo replacement.

Playmaker =/= Regista.

There are like 3 registas in the PL(now 2). The best one for me is Arteta.

Yea Regista is fine.

Playmaker would be a different position since quite few playmakers play very forward in the PL.

Carrick by a mile. Best regista in the EPL last season.

Nothing funny about it. He played the role from November when Lucas came back till the end of the season and did better than anyone else in the league. But I bet you still think Gerrard is an AM

 Gerrard was a CAM for the best part of his career  Unless he changed recently as someone mentioned here for sake of clubs need duo to injuries etc

@McAgger can you explain to me how liverpool lineup in midfield if Lucas and gerrard play together. I was always under the impression that Lucas would be the regista in that pairing...

Amazing how Carrick went from underrated to overrated in only a couple of months.

Very good PL player but he's far from elite same as Arteta. Gerrard is just on another level.

Carrick gets shut down by any good midfield.

Surprised by the disrespect shown to Gerrard who was comfortably Liverpool's best midfielder last season and performed marvelously in a deep role on the whole, though I do feel that McAgger was a bit too dismissive of Allen. Having been forced to operate essentially as a DM whilst Lucas was injured, his opportunity to play his preferred position was essentially lost as Gerrard gradually established himself in his deeper role at Allen's expense, leaving Allen out in the cold without the opportunity to express himself fully until the time for experimentation was well and truly past as the season was well under way by the time of Lucas' return.

Carrick, Arteta and Gerrard are on a comparable level in my eyes; my choice as to who I would choose would likely come down to who I had available to surround them, with the dynamism of their colleagues differentiating between Carrick and Gerrard.
