Ozil: I suffered at Real Madrid
Mesut Ozil has rejected claims made by Real Madrid Florentino Perez that he was sold for unprofessional behaviour.
The playmaker's father is considering taking legal action against the Blancos president after it was claimed by the supremo that Ozil "wasn't a good professional and was obsessed with women and nightlife".
However, the Germany international is refusing to be embroiled in a war of words with his former employers, but has cited a lack of "respect and trust" afforded to him as the prime reason behind his exit.
Speaking at his unveiling at Arsenal, the 24-year-old said: "I don’t want to say anything bad about Madrid because I had three wonderful years there.
"We achieved trophies and I had a great time there, but the people who know me know how professional I am.
"I played 159 games - you can’t play that many games if you’re not professional.
"I did not get the respect and the trust in Madrid and as a result I suffered. It was a bit difficult and when I talked to [Arsenal coach] Arsene Wenger on the phone he was full of respect for me."
The former Werder Bremen starlet looked ahead to his career with the Gunners and is hopeful that playing in England will help him to make further strides forward.
"I’m in the strongest league in the world and I have to improve myself here. I’m at the right club."

Zidane:
“The pressure at Real Madrid is huge and it’s going to be that way for Bale. But the best example is Cristiano, who dealt with the pressure supremely with his performances. What Cristiano is doing right now makes him stand out above the rest. Cristiano is the best striker in the world. Now we have creative players like Isco, and other new players like Jesé and Morata are also increasing the competition for places. Some players have responded strongly and want to fight. Everyone reacts differently; Di María reacted and wanted to fight. Özil, who is a great player, decided he wanted to leave.”

Re: Ozil: I suffered at Real Madrid
Ozil should have got more respect and should have been treated like a Galactico.
Over the past few years he's been the 2nd best attacker at the club. Instead he had to play as a RAM, when he's better as a CAM.

Zidane's opinion became as worthless as tits on a hippo when he called Bale one of the top 3 players in the world

Re: Ozil: I suffered at Real Madrid
His father wrote:Spanish newspaper ABC reported last week that Perez had told senior Madrid members that the 24-year-old would be allowed to leave because the Galacticos had grown tired of the German’s unprofessional off-pitch antics.
The report suggested that Ozil had begun socialising heavily and womanising to such an extent that his on-field performances had suffered.
ABC’s report also focused on Mustapha Ozil – Mesut’s father – by stating that he had leaked numerous stores regarding interest from other clubs after Madrid rejected the player’s €8.5 million (£7m) per year wage demands.
In response to the Spanish newspaper’s claims, Mustapha told German newspaper Bild that he will take the club and their senior members to court in order to defend his and his son’s “good names.”
"Just because someone earns a lot of money does not make them automatically a man of honour," Mustapha Ozil said. "And [Florentino] Perez is no man of honour. Mesut is made the scapegoat now. And I am the greedy father, who only waits for the big money.
"If Mesut leads such a dissipated life, as they always say, then I wonder: Why did he always play?" he said. "They want to talk Mesut down, because the fans and some team-mates are angry about his sale.”
The current Arsenal player’s father then denied reports that he had visited top Premier League clubs in order to force a move.
“There is an agent in England who forged an authorisation with my signature in order to shop around Mesut in my name," Ozil senior said. "We have taken legal measures against this person. We will see this through."
ABC then went back on their original publication, stating that the report came from "diverse sources" but none of these were Perez.
"From ABC we state that the president of Real Madrid made no interview or statement about this matter. We are sorry if the information published has led to erroneous interpretations.”

Re: Ozil: I suffered at Real Madrid
So anyone who wants to leave Madrid is a coward because they don't want to fight, that doesn't make sense. Even if bale flops it'll take about two full years for Madrid to actually do anything about it and play the players who actually deserve the start because of the insane amount of money he cost them bale is playing whether he's good or not for them for the foreseeable future.
And let's say he does well but maybe not as well as ozil normally would have done. Ozil again would most likely get benched unfairly due to the amount of pressure the club is under to play him to save face after making him the single biggest transfer of all time
Any fight involving a player not named bale and bale for a starting spot this year and maybe next will not be a fair one

Re: Ozil: I suffered at Real Madrid
agreed, it was going to be hard for ozil to start for rm, even if bale flops, he isnt going to be dropped for atleast 7 months of bad performances, no way they are going to bench someone so expensive without giving him a fair crack, ozil cant be on the bench that long in a wc year. moreover, since isco is spanish, and rm have this knew idealogy of having a more spanish based team isco wont be dropped aswell. ozil simply needed to leave.

Re: Ozil: I suffered at Real Madrid
I just don't get any of this mild Özil fallout story at all.
I mean I guess everyone just wants to come out of it looking the best they can, but really this whole thing looks like a win-win-win for Arsenal, Özil, and Real Madrid. It just seems like such a limp, boring story. Why are the media trying to keep it alive?
Arsenal paid a big money at a relatively fair price for Özil. They've gotten a player who has helped revitalize the mood & morale at the club.
Madrid are stocked with some excellent players so they're one of the few clubs in the world who could probably afford to let go of a guy like Özil. They'll be fine, and they'll have recouped a big chunk of the crazy money they spent on Bale.
And Özil gets the platform he desires to be the main man at a club that likes to play football, where he can play a key role in both counterattacking tactics & possession play, with a manager who has helped craft a few of the biggest talents of the last 15 years.

Re: Ozil: I suffered at Real Madrid
If Ozil did stay, I think he would have still started, however at RAM.
In terms of Bale being benched if he's not playing well, then it could possible due to the media and fans possibly being unhappy.

Re: Ozil: I suffered at Real Madrid
He was initially moved to the wing because he was playing piss poor anywhere else. Now, Ancelotti just prefers di maria and isco to him centrally, as both are able to put in a defensive shift for 90 minutes.Yohan Modric wrote:Ozil should have got more respect and should have been treated like a Galactico.

Re: Ozil: I suffered at Real Madrid
He was perfectly fine as the AM in a 4-2-3-1. Ancelotti changed to a 4-3-2-1/4-3-3. Isco's probably better as a CM than Ozil would be.
Isco was bought as a replacement for Di Maria.
However a diamond could have been tried out too, so Ozil could remain at AM.

Re: Ozil: I suffered at Real Madrid
He was struggling to cope with defensive assignments, not the same as being piss poor. To say that Carlo should have absolutely build around him at CAM is a big leap, not that kind of player at all. Ozil is not the new Zidane or something, let alone the new Laudrup. But he is awesome in his way, Arsenal will give him that CAM role he felt we couldnt trust him with.

1) what makes you think carlo wanted to play the diamond?Yohan Modric wrote:He was perfectly fine as the AM in a 4-2-3-1. Ancelotti changed to a 4-3-2-1/4-3-3. Isco's probably better as a CM than Ozil would be.

2) ozil left before anything could be tried out

Re: Ozil: I suffered at Real Madrid
when Mou moved him to the right it was because he had been very inconsistent, he did better on the wing, particularly against barca since he wasnt against busquets there.
di maria isn't getting replaced, he will see as many minutes as he was getting in previous seasons

Re: Ozil: I suffered at Real Madrid
Di Maria has won the whole coaching staff over with his attitude and spirit.
also, this notion of bench or no bench means nothing. In big teams, you have about 14-15 guys that can start, top players, and those are the guys that will see most of the minutes thanks to rotation. Di Maria is among those names. If we have a midfielder or forward injured or suspended, Di Maria can slot in the starting xi easily
