Not my only arguement, also, you failed to either contribute to the debate or deny that you though Drogba was a one-season wonder before he joined us. Interesting

Drogba, Diego Milito, Ian Wright, Makelele, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Yuto Nagamoto, Javi Varas, Ruud van Nistelrooy are all considered to be late bloomers as they didn't get their big breaks until they were well into their 20s, would you like me to keep going?

I'm not convinced with Costa either, but not necessarily because I think he's a one season wonder. I just think we need someone who has a track record of being reliable(like a Cavani, though that's unattainable) because, quite frankly, we CANNOT afford to have another big money flop. Especially not at CF. Not after Torres. Because of this, I think we should be looking at safer options. Costa may very well become an absolute beast but there's still that possibility that he may flop. That, however, we simply cannot afford.

You know Cavani has only been decent for a few years?

Cavani has been decent for at least 3 seasons now. You don't need 10 years to be seen as proven.


Anyway, my point is not that we shouldn't go for Costa. My point is, we have to consider the possibility of him flopping here which would hurt us A LOT. If Jose thinks its worth the risk and he can make Costa an even better player, then I trust him completely. Otherwise, I still have my doubts.

Then again my doubts about players like Cahill & Schurrle have been thrown in the garbage this season, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

Barret's right about taking the safer option and ensuring we avoid another Torres situation. But what are the options?

I know, Barrett. I am simply pointing out that pre-napoli, Cavani wasn't anything special, Costa could be similar. I also have complete faith in Jose and the club, this is not a panic buy ala Torres so I believe Costa will do a bang up job, should we sign him.

Our options were buy Cavani, Higgy or Lewandowski 12 months ago.

Currently, realistic options are: Costa, Martinez or Mandukic ( I give up on spelling his name)

Likewise. Pretty obvious he's leaving anyway and getting a quality young and massively promising English player in for him would be an optimal way of doing it.

He can play CM quite well.

Lukaku will be a good striker but i doubt he will be another sturridge, i never doubted Sturridge the player he is at Liverpool. Quite frankly the best yet to come with him if he avoids injuries.

I am not sure how much better Lukaku can get. Anyway we will keep him unless a Barkley swap offer comes.
