Re: Atletico Madrid vs Barcelona discussion
It was not the worst game ever but neither was the game fantastic. It had it's moments but both teams looked far too scared to concede. In the second half especially, there were hardly any good chances for either sides.

Watching the PL games you refer to, for me at least, is like watching cartoons. You wake up on Saturday, turn on the TV, and for about an hour and a half, you take in Tom and Jerry or Wile Coyote going at it like a couple clueless maniacs. It's fast, loud, exciting, even intriguing at times, but there's that subtle feeling in the back of your mind that what you're witnessing was really intended for infants.
Then, later in the day, you progress to La Liga, and you realize football is much much more than an bunch of guys running haphazardly around an excessively huge field.
DAT metaphor.

Lex can I ask what kind of match you were expecting? It was always going to be boring for neutrals.
I think Fillipe Luis' performance is hugely underrated. Phenomenal match for him.

True, La Liga also features the universe's most inept officials, theatrics that would make Shakespeare stand up and applaud and the sort of mismatched one sidedness you only ever see at an abattoirLe Samourai wrote:Then, later in the day, you progress to La Liga, and you realize football is much much more than an bunch of guys running haphazardly around an excessively huge field.

A single goal wouldn't have made the game more interesting. Fact is that both teams would still play concervatively and there wouldn't be any element of excitement for neutrals. For those who are interested in seeing new stuff from football teams, Barca actually defended briliantly in this one. That's something you don't see every day :p

I found Arsenal v Chelsea game to be a much more entertaining and thrilling than Atleti v Barca.

Hell the Chelsea and Man Utd game everyone said was boring ( which it was btw) was practically identical to this one but no this is tactically awesome
So much bollocks in this thread lmao.
As if people prefer teams cancelling each other out to goals and excitement.
Agreed. This was a borefest where both teams were boring and coward. Tata..

That's not true. We didn't defend brilliantly. Just because we didn't concede, it doesn't mean we defended any better than any other game. Atletico just failed to score their chances (Turan's, Costa's, Villa's) and thankfully for us a couple of 1v1 were wrongly called offsides.
