Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V6 - Page 39 Empty Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V6

Post by Helmer Wed Feb 12, 2014 11:55 am

I had recently shown the stats that ManUtd must keep an average of title winning team to get back in the CL and I think that to get that kind of form overnight is very very very difficult. I know theoretically or mathematically it is still possible but being realistic, ManUtd still has some big games to face and to achieve a points/game ratio of almost 2.4 which will help them gain 31 points, in the end they will finish on 72 (41+31) points, now that is highly impossible according to me.

I am more worried about Spurs or Everton. Spurs are actually able to get some results. Also I think if there is a difference of 5 points difference between 2nd and 3rd and also there is a difference of 7 points between 3rd and 5th, therefore I would like to drag down anyone above us if that is possible, so a draw between Arsenal and ManUtd will still give 11 points gap between manUtd and Liverpool, in case we win tonight.

In case we lose or draw tonight against Fulham, we are frracked, Spurs and Neverton will catch us

If Arsenal win today and you manage to beat Fulham, you'd be 12 points above your main CL rival.Seriously, you should be more than happy with that considering your sole objective is to qualify for CL.Its also about being realistic, you know.

honestly I think Liverpool fans " fear " more Tottenham or Everton than this Manchester United ,  discontinuous performances, it doesn't  seem able to trouble for 4th place. It can win against Arsenal but then it can lose points with extreme easiness against Fulham or Stoke, even the Manchester United fans don't trust in Moyes.
If instead Arsenal loses and Liverpool wins it means only 2 points by Arsenal, it would testify the crisis of Arsenal and therefore  more chances to qualify for the Champions League.

Pool are far better than spuds/Everton. Unless spurs magically turned around how they play there is no way they get close to the top 4.

I for one, will be rooting for Arsenal versus United as I can never find it within me to root for them no matter how pitiful their position is. Arsenal losing presents little semantically advantage unless they were top of the table as relying on others dropping points is a circumstantial hope.

Plus I've never rooted for United versus Arsenal.

Which is why maybe they lose so much to United hmm

I'm not really hoping for a United win myself, let's just say that should they win tonight, it won't feel as annoying as usually. What Arsenal's win would do to hinder our chances in the top-4 would be made up by seeing United's plight continued.

Liverpool are 4 points behind the top. They should be looking at the Title and not 4th at this point. Nothing wrong with their fans wanting United to win.

It's not really that hard to fathom. We beat you lot, they beat Fulham and they will draw closer to Arsenal and Chelsea (who dropped points yesterday).

I don't like them and can never want them to win anything, but I had no issues in wanting them to win v Chelsea in 2010, but Gerrard's laughable back pass/assist to Drogba saw and end to it.

My point is, the good of your club>>>> rivalry

Not really.

I wanted a draw, because I see Chelsea more of a threat than City (they are less consistent).

The only thing I didn't want in that game was a Man City win, Chelsea win was ok for me... City needed a loss they were flying at the time.

So I don't see anything wrong about Liverpool fans rooting for United either, I don't think top 4 is what they should aim right now. Imagine the disappointment in finishing 4th/3rd hmm

We don't necessarily look at it as wanting United to win, we just look at it as wanting Arsenal to lose.

I personally though want a draw. If you look at it logically it makes the most sense. If Arsenal lose (providing we win) we'll be 2 points behind them. If Arsenal draw, we'll be 3 points behind them. With our superior goal difference both of those scenarios show us being only 1 game behind them.

As for United, 2 more points dropped here will be a real kick in the nuts and add to their misery. A win though might just give them some sort of confidence to pull together for the home stretch.

Draw please kthnxbi

however I think the rivalry United-Liverpool is most (much? ) felt than Arsenal-Chelsea (consdering the Tottenham too) therefore  it's not same thing exactly

Comparing to situations alredy lived as Inter fan from me if I was a Liverpool fan I hoped for a tie

The last time I felt so nervous and anxious about a game away at Fulham, was in April 2009, which we won 1-0 thanks to Benayoun 94th minute winner.

Really....this game is so massive. My heart is beating so fast...I've already told my boss I can't work from 2-4PM and have to watch the game at lobby. He of course agreed Very Happy

Just talked to my cousin who lives in London. She says the weather is a bit shit and rainy and very windy. Having been to Craven Cottage, I hazard a guess that it'll be even colder there considering it's right by the river.

Yeah Sep same exact feeling. It's so surreal to even be in this position. To possibly be 4 points off top in mid February. This game could really make us dream.

For those that think we're romanticizing like teenage girls on their periods should realize we'be been around 6th-8th for 4 years now and our actual title challenge in the 24 years we haven't won it was 2008/09.

I think if we are not able to win by those heavy scorelines, we should get back to 1-0 mode but the problem is it doesnt suit our attacking line up at all

After winning the first 3 matches of the season by 1-0 scorelines we haven't won a game by a one goal margin since. Play it safe and score at least 2 and then see where it goes from there.

Think we play better in the rain. Our pace and power with Coutinho and Gerrard's passing precisions is deadly in these sort of conditions. Think it was raining when we pummeled Spurs, put 5 past Stoke at Britannia and destroyed Everton.

Bitterness? Laughing

I'm not even expecting a title win this season. I'm just pleased we're in the race. Its a bonus for me if we win it but if we don't it doesn't bother me either because the team has progressed massively. We'll be set for next season.

I'm saying at the moment though, don't count your eggs before they hatch. I mean, its not like you've actually claimed the supposed automatic 3 points tomorrow yet.
Oh ok. I misunderstood you.

By no means does any gooner think that we have this in the bag. No not at all.
