What a legend. Best Striker I have ever seen in my life. Second best striker after Ronaldo Phenomeno in the last 20 years. Shame he was robbed off a Balon d'Or. But he doesn't need it to show what an amazing career he has had

Re: Thierry Henry Announces Retirement
It's a shame that he's not well liked in France... ok, he scored mostly meaningless goals for NT. The only two that were important were the ones against Brazil in 2006 and his hand ball against Ireland. Still though... he was a great player in football and should be appreciated a bit more.
The powers of football in France are launching a PR move to boost his image here. Hope they succeed... but it will be tough. Most Frenchmen aren't good at much; but most are champions at complaining, being lazy and holding a grudge for no reason.

Remains among the players I idolized as a youngster and remains my absolute favorite striker in the game today.
Class and quality all the way up to the very end.

Even if they don't? Who cares really? There is countless footballers at Henry's level or a little below who time has forgotten how great they really were.
As long as the man himself feels like he's proud of what he did that's all that should matter.

Petit telling it like it is. Henry's unpopularity in France is very much a head-scratcher though.
I still don't understand what he did (or didn't do) that pissed the French off so much.

But Aguero has a better minutes per goal ratio and arguably scored the most important goal of the PL eraGreat Leader Sprucenuce wrote:M99 wrote:Best striker in PL era ever imo.

PS someone should dig up those "Arsenal should have sold him a year earlier to Barca" comments when he transfered.

Legend. Knew from when I first saw him play at the WC 98 that he was going to be a special player. Also comes across as a top pundit, would love it if Sky hired him.

and there it is !
the classic " i knew it back then " hipster comment .
i'm pretty sure you predicted that henry would become one of the games best strikers when you saw him play as a left winger against saudi arabia .

Re: Thierry Henry Announces Retirement
yes he played just an only good match with Juve , decisive match to bottle Lazio for Scudetto. 1-3 at Olimpico, 2 his goals , and Lazio bottled it in favor of Milan . ffs .

Re: Thierry Henry Announces Retirement
it was 4-4-2 I think anyway yes Henry played as winger
but infact the first Ancelotti had a Pardew-esque approach with talented players . He evolved during years.
For example he didn't want Roberto Baggio ( ! ) when he was Parma manager because he hadn't idea where he could be deployed in 442 .
Now Ancelotti repeats everytime to be still repented for it and he would never do again a similar choice but at that time he was a young manager and he didn't have the courage to change his 4-4-2 . He was an integralist , then he changed so as to put before the players and not the system.
