Borussia Dortmund have officially exercised their purchase option on Turkish international midfielder, Nuri Sahin from Real Madrid for a fee of €7 million.

After being originally reported by German sports daily, Bild last month, after spending the past 18 months on loan at Borussia Dortmund, club president Hans-Joachim Watzke has confirmed to ‘Ruhrnachrichten’ that Sahin will return home having made just four appearances in his brief career with Real Madrid.
Sahin signed a six-year deal with Real Madrid in 2011 with a transfer fee of €10 million, but due to various injuries, the then reigning Bundesliga Player of the Year only appeared briefly for Los Blancos and after fully recovering, was loaned to Liverpool for the 2012-13 season.
However, Liverpool failed to give the 26-year-old minutes and was then loaned out for the second part of the season back to Borussia Dortmund, the site of his most successful moments.
The transfer fee will be €3 million less than Dortmund earned from his sale in 2011, while Real Madrid will consider that a relief compared to the lasting financial losses earned on other transfers in the past.

We don't have room for him and he isn't that great of a player. he passes into transition well but lacks key qualities needed to play in our system.

Re: Borussia Dortmund complete deal of Nuri Sahin
honestly, i never saw anything wrong in sahin....the few minutes he got at madrid he was never awful unlike some others....ccough...illara..cough. even the times mourinho put him at left back during pre-season, he looked very comfortable. i doubt his problems at madrid related to how he played on the pitch, cos i said he was never terrible when he was fielded, there where people who played way worse than he did that still got a shot. I think his initial injury and maybe even homesickness hampered him, or maybe a lot of these dortmund guys are 'system' players, who thrive better in that system....kagawa hasn't really lit up utd, despite being a good player, sahin for whatever reason was deemed surplus to requirements at real and pool, gotze, though a class player with many starts under his belt is still primarily second to muller (class player too) in offensive midfield.......
