Idk, wish we still had some Australians around to tell us why, but it's true that Melbourne has taken covid more seriously than most

Okay not sure how that is necessarily a bad thing considering the global movement to Australia and their total cases. Everyone in the world only had access to groceries during the 4-5 lockdowns regardless of how many cases the localized city population had, so would be great to understand how they were treated differently as you say twice.

They haven't had 4 to 5 lockdowns, just 1 very long one

https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/melbourne-readies-exit-worlds-longest-covid-19-lockdowns-2021-10-20/

"By then, the city of five million would have spent a cumulative 262 days, or nearly nine months, under stay-home orders since March 2020 - the world's longest, exceeding a 234-day lockdown in Buenos Aires, according to Australian media."

They even surpassed us Proud

They treat unmasked people like cattle in Australia. Granted I've only seen it on youtube which could often be manipulation. But down under they seem to be losing their marbles

example, not even inside but in open air ffs, idiots

Complete farce that turned into a political play.

Meanwhile 2 other AO players were forced to withdrawn due to vaxx injuries.

Didn't fulfill the requirements for entry, lied in an immigration form, got deported.

How its unexpected or controversial is a mystery.

He's an athlete, should realize you need to play by the rules. I guess the rich and famous are used to not having to, perhaps that's what confused him. Good on Australia

It’s about time! These anti vaxers need to understand the consequences of their ‘decisions’.

First, they are pronging this pandemic and endangering the lives of others let alone themselves and their families.

Second, if they insist, their movement and participation will be restricted.

Honestly, I think this is over the top.

Yes, harming other athlete's health because you got COVID and spread it around should be forbidden and I'm all for it.

HOWEVER, vaccination is not the only way to protect others from COVID. If you catch COVID and recover from it, from my understanding you will be immune and also unable to carry the virus for 2-3 months. So if he had obtained that kind of protection, he should have been allowed to compete.

Forcing people to get vaccinated for the sake of it should not be allowed as it is against the individual's autonomy.

@danyjr the problem is that australia very clearly does not consider prior infection enough to grant an exemption. Should they give Nole preferential treatment and ignore this rule over everyone else?

We can have a conversation about whether prior infection should or should not be part of the accepted exceptions, but given that its not, he shouldn't have tried to enter the country.

So hold on, Australia doesn't allow any unvaccinated people inside the country?!

I thought this was an ATP thing.

@danyjr yup that's correct. To enter Australia you must be vaccinated or have a valid medical exemption. Full stop.

There are no studies that show you have immunity if you have been infected with covid! Further there are no studies that show how long antibodies survive and are effective.
