I think Hernandez will have more offers, but Welbeck is better than him. When Welbeck played upfront last season he scored a goal a game, plus his all round play is better.

His story is like Sturridge, always played as winger but when played CF (Sturridge at Bolton) he had a good scoring record. If Welbeck leaves and plays CF, like Sturridge did at Liverpool, he will score more goals. Fwiw, I don't think Welbeck is as good as Sturridge, or will score as many as Sturridge did last season but I think a move will improve Welbeck.

yes it's true , last year Wellbeck was the CF when RVP was out and not Hernandez and he scored many goals in that role . infact he was called for WC despite the bad season of United
I've always seen Hernandez as a " type of player Solskjaer-esque" , I mean very good as back-up , when he enters in 2nd half but rarely difference maker as starter . Imho
infact basically Moyes made 2 good things last year ( just these?) : Januzaj and Wellbeck set as CF an d not Hernandez

Doesn't make any sense, especially considering Chicha will remain at the club.

Maybe it's Welbeck angling for a move away?

Doesn't make sense. I know his scoring record is abysmal, but he offers way more to the team than Chicha does.

Unless LVG has plans to promote Wilson this season?

According to Cadena Ser, Di María will be left out of the squad today for the Spanish Supercup

In the coming days, Di Maria will leave Real Madrid. Man Utd are leading the race. [Cadena COPE]

I think it's Welbeck wanting to leave, don't think LvG would let an academy kid go willingly. He also played him every pre-season game.

Woodward better not fk this up. We will rarely get such a great opportunity to sign a world class player. There can be no excuses as to why we shouldn't get him. He doesn't want to sign an extension, LVG name dropped by saying we a quality winger like him, PSG and other money clubs can't get him due to FFP.

Sigh. I pretty much have this feeling too. I think he saw what Sturridge did playing a lead role as a striker and thought, I don't want to be a 3rd or 4th striker, I need to move to progress my career.

I agree.

Verbal transfer request, left out the squad, it seems like a one horse race with PSG declaring themselves out of it. If we get beaten by another club fair enough, but doesn't seem like that right now...

I've seen others say it will unbalance the squad, but the squad is already unbalanced this signing will balance the attack. We lack so much pace.

Pardon my ignorance, which position did Di Maria play for RM last season? I didn't watch too many RM games to pay attention to their formations and such.

He played as a CM in a 4-3-3, but Real Madrid occasionally played 4-4-2 where he played on the left and Ronaldo further up.

If LvG plays 4-3-3, Di Maria can play on the left for us, and if Herrera gets injured, we can use Di Maria as an option in CM. We can even play 3-4-3, to avoid too much change from the 3-5-2 since we've been practicing it a lot. With his high work rate maybe wing back occasionally too. He gives us a lot of tactical flexibility.

Apparently the other two players are Blind and another CM. I don't mind Blind as long as he's used as depth, will be annoyed if he's the only one that comes in.

There's an article by El Confidencial, in July, that Mendes was setting up Di Maria to us. I think this one has been going on for awhile.

You know we only conceded two goals less than Arsenal in 13/14, if are defenders could remain fit it would be really nice, but they can't Laughing
