I like that 11, I hope Chiellini is fit- I fear he won't be given his recent run of injuries. I hope Insigne is given the keys to attack, he is the only creative element on the team now
If there were any expectations for this team, they surely must now have been lessened- I think that can be seen as a positive now.

Re: Italia: La Nazionale II
Conte doesn't do catenaccio though, he wants always playing
For this reason the loss of a playmaker and of a versatile midfielder ( fundamental this one for Conte .. infact he wants Nainggolan as first signing at Chelsea ) is the worst possible thing

Re: Italia: La Nazionale II
Conte called 30 players for a training camp ca couple of days ago to prepare for the Euros, the call-ups exclude Milan, Juve, United and PSG players because of commitments.
Goalkeepers: Federico Marchetti (Lazio), Antonio Mirante (Bologna), Marco Sportiello (Atalanta)
Defenders: Francesco Acerbi (Sassuolo), Davide Astori (Fiorentina), Leonardo Bonucci (Juventus), Armando Izzo (Genoa), Angelo Ogbonna (West Ham), Lorenzo Tonelli (Empoli)
Midfielders: Marco Benassi (Torino), Federico Bernardeschi (Fiorentina), Antonio Candreva (Lazio), Danilo Cataldi (Lazio), Daniele De Rossi (Roma), Lorenzo De Silvestri (Sampdoria), Stephan El Shaarawy (Roma), Alessandro Florenzi (Roma), Emanuele Giaccherini (Bologna), Jorginho (Napoli), Marco Parolo (Lazio), Roberto Soriano (Sampdoria), Davide Zappacosta (Torino)
Forwards: Fabio Borini (Sunderland), Eder (Inter), Ciro Immobile (Torino), Lorenzo Insigne (Napoli), Leonardo Pavoletti (Genoa), Graziano Pellè (Southampton)
Since Marchisio and Verratti injuries everyone reported that he would move away from a midfield pair and go back to a 3-5-2. He also confirmed that the Juve defense will play. In training he tested two teams with De Rossi and Jorginho as registas of each team. The teams tested were:
3-5-2: def; Candreva, Florenzi, De Rossi, Giaccherini, El Sharaawy; Pelle (Immobile), Borini (Eder)
3-5-2: def; De Silvestri, Cataldi (Soriano), Jorginho, Parolo (Benassi), Bernardeschi; Pavoletti, Insigne
Its good that Florenzi is used in midfield now. El Shaarawy is called as a midfielder and played on the left, pretty attacking to have him behind 2 forwards and play without fullbacks. I guess when Darmian and Antonelli join one of them will be in WB positions instead of El Sha/Candreva for balance.

Re: Italia: La Nazionale II
Now that I calmed down from that first picture.
The squad is on point. Its a shame about the injuries to Marchisio, Verratti and Perin, but it still looks good.
A little weird that Astori is there for Acerbi. I guess Ogbonna is dong well in the PL? Benassi over Soriano is a bold choice but I guess he'll just get cut from the final squad anyway. A little heavy on the right side for the esterni, the only naturally left sided player is El Shaarawy but then Giaccherini/Bonaventura can do it. Its weird not to see Antonelli instead of De Sciglio or Zappacosta.
It confirms the 3-5-2 as well.
I see something like:
(With Darmian replacing the WB of the side chosen to defend.)
Conte is definitely not going for Catenaccio. The squad has 4 strikers and 4 wingers plus mids like Bonaventura, Giaccherini, Jorginho and Benassi.
The 7 that have to be cut could be something like:
Astori
Benassi
1 of Sturaro and Bonaventura
1 of Montolivo and Jorginho
2 of Zappacosta, De Sciglio and Bernardeschi
1 of Immobile and Zaza

Better but not much better
How many scrubs
You get the low level reached from Italy when you realize there is indignation for Pavoletti not called up for Nazonale
Time ago it happened if the coach didn't call up Pruzzo or Baggio ...

I just don't want Montolivo at the Euro's. I'm scared he'll go after his performance in the Coppa final in front of Conte though. I don't trust him to play like that everytime.

so true that it hurts
I hope Montolivo doesn't play, I think he's quite awful.
With that being said, potentially a decent squad, a decent 11 can be made from that for sure. Defense obviously has great chemistry. We'll see what happens

Re: Italia: La Nazionale II
De Rossi has been in poor form lately but I really hopes he pulls he form the national team. He always beasts with Italy. Apparently in the training reatreat he was acing the physical tests, hope its true.
If he is up to it I would bench Motta for him for sure. Jorginho plays in front of the defense at Napoli but I hope he can work on the side for Conte. If Florenzi-De Rossi-Jorginho can work that would give a lot more confidence.

I trust De Rossi too, Parolo even. I like Bonaventura, I hope he gets a chance to start, he would be the main creative outlet.
3-5-2? Or 4 man back line?

Buffon
3 man backline. He called 6 CBs and grouped the fullbacks and wingbacks together. Florenzi and Bonaventura together are a treat but it also seems lightweight. Maybe De Rossi can beast one more time and do all that.

Re: Italia: La Nazionale II
Quite obvious he was going to call-up De Sciglio after that performance the other day.So predictable
Motta
De Rossi-----Jorginho/Florenzi
Would be my midfield.
Motta should absolutely start for Italy. No Marchisio or Verratti.Need someone to keep the midfield ticking.

Marchisio recently tore his left ACL
Verratti just had groin surgery
Calma though, easy tournament

Re: Italia: La Nazionale II
A Conte squad if I've ever seen one.
Can't wait for him to field workhorses like De Sciglio, Parolo, and Giaccherini
Won't even make it out of the group stages. If they do, they'll be knocked out in the first round.

Some people just like to hate.
Who else could he call?
He went with Florenzi, Bonaventura, Jorginho, Insigne, El Shaarawy, Candreva and Bernardeschi but its just Conte squad?
