Player vs. Manager

On this forum, i have heard a lot about players failing to shine or exert themselves due to tactically inept managers. The most recent examples that come to mind are Messi due to Maradona or Sneijder having a relatively bad season due to the absence of Mourinho.

There are exceptions of course, like Zidane bossing around in WC 06 inspite of Domenech. The question is, which players over history have exerted their influence on the team inspite of a bad/tactically inept manager? Which player from the current generation do you think has the capability to do that?

Manager > player 90% of the time.
