OK then, it's Besiktas at Istanbul next. Pitty that we didn't/couldn't take a more substantial lead than the 1-0 in the home-leg. I guess there's little to guess about the team selection:

They are shit, But they'll score imo. Need to get that early away goal and finish the tie.

Usual team, Gerrard on at the 60th.

Sakho and Sturridge in. Markovic out.

I'd leave Coutinho on the bench and sub him on if we need him.

Any news on Sakho, I imagine he was injured against Soton since he wasn't on the bench even?

One goal should be enough, I don't think we'll concede three goals ourselves.

By the way, I like our January signing MigNOLETINGOLSNEMOAR, he's been making some top top saves.

Besiktas' problems have increased ahead of Thursday’s Europa League last 32 second leg clash with Liverpool at Istanbul’s Ataturk Stadium.

Black Eagles boss Slaven Bilic was left to bemoan fatigue after seeing his side knocked off the top of the Turkish Super League by Galatasaray following a shock 1-0 defeat to mid-table outfit Eskisehirspor on Sunday.

Top scorer Demba Ba missed the game due to a calf injury and he’s a fitness doubt for the showdown with the Reds, who lead 1-0 from the first leg courtesy of Mario Balotelli’s late penalty. Besiktas are already without left-back Ramon Motta and centre-back Ersan Gulum due to suspension after they picked up bookings at Anfield.

Established No 1 keeper Tolga Zengin will also miss the contest due to a knee injury so Cenk Gonen will continue to deputise between the posts. “We expected that after playing a tough game at Liverpool,” said Bilic after their league setback. “One may criticize the coach for the loss, but the player rotation is not why we lost.”

Thursday’s game will see Liverpool return to the scene of their remarkable 2005 Champions League triumph over AC Milan. Besiktas are currently using the Ataturk Stadium as their temporary home while their new stadium, the Vodafone Arena, is completed. It’s being built on the same land as the historic Inonu Stadium where Liverpool lost 2-1 back in 2007.

In a bid to fill the 72,000-capacity, Besiktas have slashed ticket prices for the second leg against Liverpool. They have already drawn with Arsenal and beaten Tottenham on Turkish soil this season. “We need our fans to fill the Ataturk Olympic stadium if we are to beat Liverpool in the return leg,” Bilic said.

Don't you think there's TOO many changes in the back-line??? Agreed, with Emre in midfield there will be greater protection and energy from there, but still...

I'd really like for Henderson to get a rest... but at the same time I'm hugely worried what will happen to our midfield without him.

Hendo is injured and hasn't traveled. Coutinho hasn't traveled but no news of injury so probably rested. Sakho is still out and also hasn't traveled.

I hope Henderson's injury isn't anything serious. Hopefully just a little fatigue thing and he'll be back for the weekend...

I'm a little worried about the mental side of things of our younger players when playing in Turkey.

2.5 hours until the match and I'm feeling quite worried... There will be a CM partnership that's never played together before (Can & Allen) and I don't remember when Lovren and Toure have last started a game for us, never mind in a three-CB system...

Anyway, the last time we played at this stadium we won the Champions League, so surely we've got it here Cool

They don't have two of their first choice defenders and their keeper is a Turkish Brad Jones. I wouldnt be too worried, Worst case we'll draw.
