Re: Barclay's Premier League '14-'15 discussion V9
Not somehow, Monreal was always a very good LB for Arsenal. It's just that Arsenal fans tend to make their bench players look like shit just to prove that 1st choice player is better. It's happening with Gibbs now, according to Twittee he's crap because Monreal is starting.
You have to be team Wilshere or team Ramsey, team Ospina or team Szczesny, team Mertesacker or team Gabriel and on and on...

Nah Bellerin all the way >>>
I'm team Chambers though when Debuchy has just returned from a long term injury and almost cost us the FA cup

Not sure if I agree. Not that I see all Arsenal games of course, but surely Monreal has improved.
For example, didn't Gibbs get injured in one of our ties and Monreal came on, and you could sense a distinct loss of quality defending against Robben?
Last season's big game away debacles included some horrorshow appearances by Monreal no? The one at Liverpool?
Even earlier this season, granted he had to help out as CB, but he seems a much more confident, secure and therefore stronger player now

You are right Hans, there were games before this run in the side that Monreal looked extremely out of his depth and looked utterly incapable of dealing with the pace of the English game.
Although the general point Urban makes is true, there's definitely a case of my favorite player is better than yours stigma with Arsenal fans

Just realised if we lose all our games and still stay up we would end the season on a 11 game losing run and still stay up
PL should be considered worst league in Europe if that happens.

If you lose all your games you won't stay up, I'm pretty certain of that.

If NUFC get relegated because Pardew was sacked I'm not sure if mole will be able to cope with that. Will probably end up in an asylum.

Not so fast. Mole will keep telling himself and all of us that it's good because it might lead to the end of Ashley's reign.
Ashley will stay and be satisfied with upper Championship midtable, and then after a couple of seasons Mole will end up in an asylum.

I'm fully aware that he might not sell tbh, but it increases the likelihood of it and the longer we are down there the bigger the chance of it.
I'm willing to take that risk.

If Newcastle get relegated, will we get more striped canary-yellow kits? Because the world DEFINITELY needs more striped canary-yellow kits.

hmm. I'm no expert.. but to me it seems your fantasy has some dangerous holes in it.
If he SELLS while the club is in second tier, wouldn't he make a huge loss?
If he would like to sell, he'd need to get promoted again.
But since that would mean investing first, and the guy is apparently allergic to investing - wouldn't be the more likely scenario be that he just has the club spend less corresponding to the lesser revenue?
I.e., SELL the most valuable players first and then establish a moderately profitable Championship operation?

Could also use more of those (legitimately) awesome black and blue kits as well.

What you say is true but what if it looks like we won't get promoted? he'll be in a situation where he'll be losing money with no real way to make any.
It would be a difficult decision to make, last time he tried to sell us we were in the championship so i believe he'd at least consider it.

but why will he be losing money? As long as the club doesn't make losses, he'd only be losing money the moment he sells, no?

In the sense the club won't be raking in the ridiculous PL tv money, which is the only reason he owns the club so he can use that money to run his businesses.

Maybe the GL community should spearhead a kickstarter drive to buy, take over and run Newcastle United
