I watched from before but not that seriously. I remember seeing Zidane's volley in the CL final and going wow and following PL because the Beckham/Zidane hype was insane and Serie A because it was the best league in the world with six insane teams. Started seriously watching at World Cup 2002. Well I actually watched all the other World Cups. To hype up the World Cup, all the highlights of every World Cup was shown on TV. Then all hyped up I watch nearly all the matches at 2002 World Cup. It seemed like a fairy tale to me then the man who had a seizure and lost the previous World Cup came back and won his country the World Cup. After World Cup, Ronaldo went to Madrid and Rivaldo went to Milan. I always thought club football was second rate for some reason and started following these two teams seriously. I liked Milan infinitely more, I don't know why but I did even though Rivaldo was benched and Ronaldo was beasting for Madrid. Soon enough, I was celebrating like a madman when Milan won the CL and only cared about Ronaldo other than Milan in football. Ronaldo getting injured saddened me a lot.

I started back about 1996-1997 cant remember exactly, but I saw Mcmanaman for Liverpool and at Euro96, fell in love with this footballer's quick feet dribbling style, I just thought it was very exciting and entertaining. Before that never really watched football much

So started to watch Liverpool and loved the team color, the style, players, etc, was young and these were the main attractions. After a few especially after all of my favourite players left like Mcmanaman, Fowler, Owen, etc. the team just changed and it wasnt fun anymore.

Back then there werent coverage of La Liga and Serie A to me is just always more boring with the slow pace. So on and off I just saw the big teams like Barca, Real, Inter, Milan, etc., more neutral for a few years, whatever team had the entertaining styles and players I liked.

Then La Liga got coverage and started watching about 2006-7, and then consistently coincidentally much of the run in of Pep's first season Barca, lucky and fell in love straight away and have been until this day

2004- I saw a Barcelona game with my uncle and he was a big fan of Overmas.

2006- I've always liked Henry and their CL 2006 road was great and I started supporting them aftermath. (Almost 9 years ago wow ) .

my earliest memories are probably when i was around 5-6 years old, my family are Irish/English immigrants and my uncles supported United so I would watch them as a young child with them when we would be at my grandparents house which was every weekend essentially...I wasn't a huge fan at that early age as following match day times and schedules aren't really on the mind of a 6 year old

my obsession probably began in the 98-99 season, I had gone to England to visit family in September 98, my football interest was high as I was playing at youth level and France 98 had just concluded. My parents took me on the Old Trafford stadium tour...I fell in love and the obsession truly began, I came home from that trip with my first kit, posters and fanzines. Then a few months later they won the champions league and the rest is history. My favourite players of those early years were Andy Cole, Roy Keane and of course Beckham died my hair blonde and all that, had the haircut.

Canada has always had pretty good premier league coverage on TV so I don't think I've missed a game live in about 15 years...next year I'm going to England and plan on being at Old Trafford for a match.

Gotta say this is a nice thread, can understand more why everyone support certain clubs, and would agree with a lot of the said experiences and eventual support for their respective teams
