This is such a rip off City only they could manage to pay 50m for an okay player with no other clubs competing for his signature.

smh, some of the most lolworthy posts of the year in this thread.

He's not GOAT or world class, at least not yet. But he's also not an 'okay' or 'decent' player.

Ok players don't go for anywhere close to 50m lol, even Carroll went for 35m and you have to remember that was a result of the world wide respected Immaculate_Mole hype machine tbf.

Sterling is a decent player. With exceptional talent. But talent ain't shit because currently he's just that, decent. Now mostly people here are predicting (nothing wrong with this) whether he'll make it or not. Now for 50m you would expect more than just decent in the next few seasons.

Liverpool fans would have the most informed opinion on his footballing abilities as they have watched all of his games for the past 3 seasons (although possibly a bit biased).

I'm going strictly by the strides he's made in the last year and it doesn't look like he's improved the facets of his game that were very poor when he broke through our academy. Now I personally don't believe that he'll make improvement at all in those areas. So yeah I think Man City have paid 50m for a decent footballer who is going to be just okay for them.

Come on James, Sterling was more than just decent. He was very good to exceptional over the last two seasons. He had no finish this year, but he was still a very dangerous player (especially in the first half before all this drama started) for us last season. He was exceptional behind Suarez and Sturridge in the second half of 13/14 and has routinely looked very good for England, too.

He's a very good player that has the talent to be one of the best players in the world. I don't think that he has the work ethic or mentality to realize that talent though, and fix the facets of his game that need fixing to become that though.

He will be what he is, a very good player, sometimes exceptional, for City. He won't carry them, but he will make them a better team and will allow them to look fantastic in attack playing with other world class players that are a slight class above him.

Liverpool probably have no more than 3 better players in their whole squad to be honest.
