Not sure if he had actually improved or was that just a flash in the pan, but I was stunned when he scored that goal. He have missed far easier chances before.Doc wrote:I have nothing but love and affection for Mkhitaryan. He was the real reason for La Decima. God bless his scrublord self.
He did very well against Mönchengladbach though.

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
Well, they do not spend more than they earn, and they don't earn even half of what Dortmund earn or slightly more than half of what Schalke earn. Other than the latter, they have no debts, though, and they want to keep is that way.Hapless_Hans wrote:I have the feeling Gladbach will be in trouble this season.
And all they add is Leverkusen flop Drmic and Hannover scrub Stindl? Plus two teenage CBs?
How the hell is this supposed to work on the higher level?
Absolutely inexplicable. Is their financial situation so precarious?
(Just checked - Gladbach: 130 mio Euros turnover, Dortmund: 300 mio Euros, Schalke 215 Euros)
As a matter of fact, the goal that the director of sports gave out was "a single-digit result", and they actually plan for the season 2016/17 with their fresh young foals.
But no matter what, Lucien Favre is going to readjust things and I'm pretty sure that you will see another Gladbach team next Sunday.
Mind you, Dortmund are the only opponent that Gladbach always have severe problems with, especially when they play against them in the Signal-Iduna-Park. (Funnily, Dortmund usually can't win against Gladbach when they play in the BorussiaPark either). Did you know that last season, Gladbach were even worse in Dortmund than last week (22:1 shots on goal in 2014, 17:5 shots on goal last Sunday? They were only saved by the fact that Dortmund didn't manage to score last season, and Dortmund were lucky that Chrios Kramer did them the favour... And you know how well things went otherwise.)

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
The point is that even freshly promoted sides actually can win or at least draw against established sides and that the fight for the top this season will be harder than ever. And if you look at the top 4 or top 6 finishes, you might notice that there are far less upsets in the Premier League than in the Bundesliga.sk3ptical wrote:bayern to walk the league again so whats the point of watching

Even if this seems improbable, my post wasn't mainly based on the Dortmund loss.
But if I said 'trouble', I guess that's not really the right word if, as you say, Gladbachs board basically still see their club as a 'single digit', let's say 4-7th spot, team.
Financially I can see why that is the case.
I'm just wondering if they shouldn't have 'seized the moment' a little more this summer with regards to strengthening the team.
They have momentum, which I feel could be sustained a little, even if I understand they can't operate like they're fast climbing as a club (which Dortmund could more, because of their stadium).

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
Gladbach tried to sign some players that decided to go elsewhere (that is to clubs who offered more money), among them Chancel Mbemba and Matthias Ginter. Of course Gladbach are not going to break their wage structure either, and so you can imagine that top players will likely look for better paying clubs.

Hm. If they continue like on the first matchday, I'd say Dortmund are not the worst guess.

I have no idea.
But historically every other season is won by someone other than Bayern, and it's usually not the same team twice.
A lot of pundits think it's Neverkusen, I think Wolfsburg is more likely. Dortmund certainly are candidates.

City and Barca are going to walk their perspective leagues.
Don't see why people focus on just who wins the league, there is 18 teams in the BL and 20 in the other major leagues. Plenty of love to share around IMO.

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
Schalke are back to their injury problems, though. SSNHD report that after Matija Nastasic suffered a rupture of his Achilles tendon, now Klaas-Jan Huntelaar suffered some injury of his left foot in training. It's not known how bad this is, though.

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
Huntelaar is always injured, it's embarrassing for how long Schalke have been relying on him and then crying about injuries.
Franko di Santo/Choupo-Moting are not fit to start for a top 4 team if that's what they are trying to achieve.

Who are these 'pundits'??? I'm the only Leverkusen fan here and I'm not even confident that we will make top-four. True, I barely get to watch German League, but it's not like they have signed Suarez and Klopp in the close season .

Even if they did they'd still find a way to *bleep* it up.
They are Neverkusen after all.

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
Is it just me or is Herrmann being a bit misused by Gladbach? Based on last season shouldn't he be a bonafide starter for them? According to transfermarkt he only played 90' 6 times last season! Only 26' in their opener. Seems a bit weird for their leading scorer...especially since he performed in Europe also.

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
Aranguiz has ruptured his achilles tendom in training, just days after joing Bayer. Probably half a year out.
Terrible news, so unlucky.
Bayer seem to be now interested in getting one of Höjbjerg or Rode from us.

Hapless_Hans wrote:Bayern will not try to get him this summer. Wolfsburg do not want to sell him this summer. He himself reportedly would prefer a move to Bayern over Man City.
Guess the outcome therefore depends how urgently he wants to leave. If he doesn't make a stink, with City offering crazy money, I'd say he stays.
Apparently it's now becoming clear his desire to leave immediately is bigger than his preference of Bayern over City.
The fact they offering him up to 20m yearly salary might be a factor too lol.
No way we can match that.
Wolfsburg seem to be not very reluctant to cash in now.
They are *bleep* without De Bruyne, but who cares. They apparently don't.
Problem is, De Bruyne is a huge improvement for City, and a huge loss for Bundesliga.

Yeah but Wolfsburg are rumoured to be after Ziyech as a replacement if KdB goes. I don't think Wolfsburg will see a huge drop in quality if they do buy him once he settles. They'll make a massive profit, also.

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
9 seconds in and Hoffenheim leads 1:0 against Bayern
That means he ties with Karim Bellarabi for fastest goal in Bundesliga history who also scored after 9 seconds against Dortmund in the last season.
And now Darmstadt score against Schalke! o_O
