A certain part that stood out for me in that interview:

Back to movies: Steven Spielberg and George Lucas have been pessimistic about the future of the film industry, worrying that if a few tentpoles flopped, it could cause the whole business to implode. Do you share their concern?

My pessimism isn’t about franchise filmmaking. That’s been going on since I was born. You can talk about Transformers now, but you could talk about the Planet of the Apes movies and James Bond4 when I was a little kid — and I couldn’t wait to see those. Actually, when we’re done here, I’m going to go see Guy Ritchie’s The Man From U.N.C.L.E. I don’t know why Spielberg and Lucas would be complaining about movies like that. They don’t have to direct them.

I really wouldn't like to make this a superhero vs. indie film debate again, but I certainly think this is an interesting topic. Where do you guys think, not just film, but filmmaking is going and what are the challenges and trends (of course just presuming) and strong points going to be in the future? Certainly would like to get everyone's opinion on this, but more so from guys like Freeza and RO, who as RG mentioned not so long ago are students of film.

I'm not highly intelligent on movies before the 90s, not at all, for obvious reasons: my age and still up to this point I'm not really that big on movies from that time. So what has been the best decades and how has film progressed, is it still progressing in a good way? I for one think the 90s was GREAT, I love those films, and it ended with a bang in 1999 which I think was one of the best years for film of all time! 00s was still quite good though, but not up to the same standard as 90s imo, 2010s is moving in the same level as 00s quality-wise if you ask me. It's no doubt that this decade will be remembered for the superhero focus in Hollywood, but again I'm not picking on that, just saying.

Should I watch Dawn of The Planet of The Apes again? Because honestly it was such an unmemorable film for me. I remember it being super meh and not liking it much.

I liked Rise of the planet of the Apes with James Franco.

Watched Rogue Nation. Wow As good as Ghost Protocol undoubtedly. Never a dull moment. The opera sequence was amazing. So was Rebecca Ferguson. All the actors delivered.

I really liked Dawn tbh. There was some stupid crap in it but it had fantastic action and suspense.

Apes on horses with guns ffs. Caesar vs that mean ape, ape vs ape showdown

Koba was the best villain for years. Loves Toby Kebbels portrayal.

One of the best of last year.

Visually stunning film. Emotionally gripping. Cesar and Koba were amazing despite not even being humans.

Nightcrawler was great, i thought Jake Gyllenhaal captured MT's personality perfectly.

It pretty much come down to this.

Franchise films has existed since Jaws, it will probably never change, because it hasn't for 40 years.

There is more original films now, than there has ever been in history.

Filmmaking has gotten cheaper because of the technological advancement. Before this millenium everyone couldn't make a film, now everyone can. It was expensive as shit. Now people can use their iPhone to make professional looking films if they buy another 50$ worth of gadgets to accompany it.

The biggest problems is that a lot of movies are overspending due to succes. Marvel's, Fast films etc. could save a lot of money, but they're spending like it's going out of fashion. An example is the Gambit movie getting some 130m$ budget, while Deadpool has a 30m$ budget. This doesn't make any sense. The only films that should be able to spend that money is the films traveling around the world with a huge crew etc and has to get permits from multiple cities and what not (an example of this could be Spectre). Another example of warranted huge budgets are films making leaps in technology like Avatar did. But it isn't really that hard to make a great film for smaller budgets.

Hollywood studios need to be more responsible with their handling of budgets. It's not the Hollywood studios or the films that are losing this battle, it's the theater chains that has to increase ticket prices according to the increase in budgets.

Also indie vs. franchise films isn't really anything I've ever wanted to hear, because the people who complain about indies not making money and no original ideas in film, are most likely people who pirate them and never go to see it in a cinema, and therefor resulting in fewer of those movie (there's a bunch). Indies are soooo cheap to make, and don't require a lot, and the scene in thriving with new filmmakers wanting to make their entrance every year. The best thing is to appreciate both parts, and vote with your money as to what you want to watch more of.

What a fantastic film

Amazing blend of thriller, mystery and drama. Anthony Hopkins was GOAT as Hannibal Lecter. Jodie Foster was great as well.

Seriously the whole movie, every single second, is fun and fast-paced.

Snatch is amazing. Watched it the first time dubbed in Russian along time ago. Then second time I saw it in Montana in 2011 in a cabin in the mountains high as a mofo. Great time ffs.
