Trailers don't do them justice. The two most unique directors out there, and their works are hard to give a tone in a 2 minute trailer.
From the looks of it, this will fit their tone and be great.

Can't wait, that cast got me so erect.

Looks like a prime Del Toro, so it has to be a great watch. One of the best actors we've got, atleast in this genre.

Be more specific brev. What are you in the mood for. And don't say "anything", that wouldn't help.

Hail Caesar looks classic Coen Bros humor. Cast is stellar too. Weird it's being released on February.

The Martian

9/10

My favorite space movie of all time.

Better than both Gravity and Interstellar for me.

No

Interstellar was a level above overall imo. Martian gave a better 'feeling' though since it was that light hearted and an inspiring film.

Yeah, also think Interstellar was just better quality overall. I don't like giving /10 ratings anymore, but if I had to, I would say:
Interstellar 9/10
The Martian 8.3/10

I'm with RG on this one, Interstellar wasn't just a space movie, it was so much more.

That isn't to say The Martian is inferior, i think its one of the best movies this year imo

Nolan's name is the thing putting it above for you lot imo hmm

Not blaming you though. I'd do the same with Scorsese.

Maybe Nolan's name is putting it down for you hmm

Interstellar was a flawed masterpiece for me. Liked it miles better than Gravity. Will watch Martian next week hopefully.

Memento is in my top 5 of all time. I don't hate Nolan. Every casual fan loves him blindly though, which Imdb rating are a real testament of. Really want to see a smaller film from him again.

Someone like RG, who watches only big movies (or some 20-30 a year) etc. (no offense ofc Laughing )

Nolan is the biggest director out there and easy to come across.
It's like your favourite actor being Dicaprio or your favourite actress being Jennifer Lawrence. Although there are some exceptions.

Wouldn't call you that though.

Laughing

@Freeza
I get you. There certainly are those fans out there who just has an undying love/devotion for Chris Nolan.

I am aware you mentioned there are some exceptions (and I guess I also fall under that) as my favourite director is Nolan and my favourite actor is Leo. But I have always maintained that there is a difference between what is considered 'favourite' and what is considered 'good' or actually more, what is considered 'best'. I won't go around preaching Nolan and DiCaprio till the death of me, nah never Laughing

I certainly know there have been better actors than Leo in the past, and although I can argue that he is the best of his generation, I also think Leo is not as diverse and he can only play certain types of characters, and there are other actors within his generation which have some other qualities over him.

As for Nolan (sometimes I think I'm a borderline fanboy Laughing ) because simple fact is he was the director of Inception and Inception was "that" film for me. It got me intersted and passionate about film and everything about it (history of it, Hollywood, awards season, all kinds of films - foreign, art house, etc, etc). And that can never change. But still you won't see me blindly preaching the gospel of Nolan all day long, but I do think he is pretty damn good, and he will go down as one of the most influential directors ever. Of course then the only issue/challenge is trying to not let a Nolan film "blind" you into automatically liking it or giving it one more star in in your rating, simply because Nolan directed it, and I feel I have done a good job at that, and hopefully will continue to keep my admiration and gratitude towards Nolan in check in the future as well.

It's a tough business to keep things fair and unbiased when you just love your favourites (I mean you would know, Michael B. Jordan and all that) and I sure hope other fans (not directed at the guys on here) will also get that as they "expand" their film knowledge. I actually think we're a select group here who watches a fair amount of diverse films, so I won't push them aside as just a casual. RG is debatable of course hmm

I guess my point is, I've seen people (not only you) who get annoyed by all these Nolan fanboys, but be careful not to just quickly pin someone down as a fanboy of undying and blind love, because at the end, Nolan through all his storytelling flaws, is still a magician of a director and makes very good, entertaining films. And it may draw larger crowds than any other director, and get the ocassional casual fan crazy, but just deal with it.
It's a tough business. Laughing Thumbs up

Look I love Nolan as much as the next guy. Inception is my top 5 film of all time. The Prestige another one that is probably in my top 5. But Interstellar was simply not as great as you people claim. Specifically the ending was all over the place. He tried too hard to science the shit out of the ending and it didn't do it for me.

Well it's all theoretical, so we can't really disprove it either. But to me it was outlandish.

And on another hand, I let my feeling about the films do the talking. Interstellar was very good up to a point where it completely disconnected with me as the audience. And once it was past that line, I was just watching someone trying too hard to find an ending that simply was over the top and didn't do it. For me at least.
