Who will proceed to the Last 16?
Re: Champions League 2015/16 | Group E
Highlight of the game: Messi tackling and receiving a yellow card for it at 6-0.
Second highlight of the game: Messi and Suarez on a hattrick and they let Neymar take the pen.

Poor Roma. They must get panic attacks nowadays if they have to visit some FCB at their turf

Classic Roma Now watch this result derail their season like last yr (:
Rudi Garcia is simply terrible as far as CL's concerned.

What's Garcia supposed to do? He's lining up with Keita who went to China like 4 years ago but suddenly plays in the Champions League again in 2015, Maicon whose career got rekt by Bale like 6 years ago and other ancient players whose names I have never heard before: like Totti. (:

Well, at least don't play a high line defense against a team with Messi, Neymar and Suarez on it. Give yourself some chance ffs.

Re: Champions League 2015/16 | Group E
Honestly the only way you keep it respectable against this Barca side is if you park the bus. Don't even counterattack. Just *bleep* park the bus, play 3 CB's (one acting as a sweeper), 3 DM's, with fullbacks tucked in and no CF's. and hope you only get beat by one goal. Never try to set an offside trap because you'll be unsuccessful. Have your defensive line literally sitting on your GK's lap. If you're gonna lose, you're gonna lose by a 30 yard worldie.
Play your fastest player on the whole squad as the lone target man (if a fullback is the quickest on your team then you play as a CF) and just hoof it to him and have him chase it and dive around trying to win freekicks (or hopefully a pen) up the pitch.
Don't expect to win.

That used to work. But now we've got Suarez and Sergi Roberto. Roberto would cross for 90 minutes and Suarez would get one, at least.

Re: Champions League 2015/16 | Group E
Far too pragmatic from Rudi. These guys knew they would remain 2nd before this game even started, thanks for Bayer and BATE drawing. It took all of the urgency out of our gameplan so we basically just laid down for Barca and capitulated. I find that distasteful.
As I said in another thread, this loss itself isn't what I'm worried about, it's the knock-on effect in other games.
Had we not lost to Bayern the way we did last season, we may very well have played better against City and CSKA. We need to beat BATE to get out of this group, which is our goal for the CL so our mentality needs to stay strong.
That said, I take some solace in that we will have back some key players by that time in Gervinho, Salah, Nainggolan, and De Rossi. Gotta keep our heads up and get the W at home to advance.

Chelsea's bus doesn't worry me anymore. Terry, Fabregas, Matic, Ivanovic etc. are hardly defensive monsters. Last time we sucked because all the best chances fell to Alexis, Fabregas, Cuenca etc. Completely different story with Suarez and Neymar in the team. Don't even need to hoof it, they will unlock Chelsea by playing normal football. Since Enrique took over I don't even remember complaining about parked buses anymore. I think only Malaga did it annoyingly well in the past 12+ months.
This isn't Pep's "we need to take 20 touches in the buildup all the time and let the opponent regroup comfortably" Barca anymore. Tiny bit of space and this team becomes super dangerous on the break. Even opponent corners turn into chances for us.

Yep agreed, it was always annoying back in Pep's days when we would have the opportunity to counter attack but then we would slow the attack down and just pass the ball sideways instead of looking to get it forward, it was the reason why we suffered so much the likes of Chelsea where we had so much possession but barely any chances at goal.
Those days are gone now and whilst we still do focus a lot on possession we aren't as obsessive about it anymore, we take every opportunity to play on the counter attack and this has paid massive dividends for us.

Re: Champions League 2015/16 | Group E
So how did Barca lose 4-1 to Celta or 2-1 to Sevilla?
Let's be real this team is not invincible. You just have to play right and execute nearly perfectly to contend with them because they have so many weapons. They're beatable.

Every team is 'beatable'. No team never loses. This Barca though will be hardly beatable when it counts.

I loved the gesture by Messi to give the penalty to Neymar just so he can get on the score sheet.
