Pep should have won it back to back with Barca. Barca from 2008 - 2011 was way above everyone else in Europe (right now Bayern, Madrid, Barca are much closer). But after every CL win he went full retard. If he doesn't replace Eto'o with Ibra and Inter don't get Eto'o in the process, Barca win it in 09/10 again. That Inter side and van Gaal's Bayern side in the final were way inferior. Same in 11/12. Replacing a natural goalscorer like Villa with a winger like Sanchez who ended up scoring 3 CL goals in 3 seasons and promoting plebls like Cuenca and Tello to play in a CL semi-final and forcing Fabregas into the team which meant he had to play 3-4-3 to fit all midfielders in, all of that didn't improve the team at all, quite the opposite.

I wouldn't be surprised if the current Barca retains it though, injuries permitting. Enrique won't go full hipster to please Internet nerds with a brand new 2-1-1-0-2-1-2-3-5 formation and he won't replace Neymar with Cuadrado. So everything's fine. 5 CLs in a row incoming.

Had we not sold our soul aka Angelito DiMaria we would have won the CL back to back imo

Barca won't win it this season, I have a feeling we will meet Barca in the Semis while Bayern will have an easy ride into the final

Pep should count his lucky stars to have won 2 with Barca rather than claiming he could've won 4 straight. Could've just easily have been zero considering they were thoroughly outplayed in a fashion his team never has before Lampard, Ballack, Essien & co at Stamford Bridge in 09 before poor a combination of poor finishing & Ovrebo bailed him out.

Let's not forget this moment as well.

https://vimeo.com/45525786

Histry will revise itself & make that team seem infallible but they had their own fair share of luck. Last season's Barca is the only campaign they've had in recent times where you couldn't possibly claim they were fortunate to win it.

DAT Chelsea game. rofl Chelsdrids tried their best to make it an all English final and sent off Abidal for Anelka's disgraceful trip over his own feet but Iniesta luckily served justice and showed what's the difference between a local, inconsiderable small fish (Lampard) that is only worshipped in England and a global, intercontinental, fútbol hero.

tbh, that 2nd semi was the only game I ever saw where I seriously assume intentional foul play by refereeing.
Barca fans should be really, really quiet about this.

I don't think Barca themselves had a hand in it, but in this case there is a motive on UEFA's side, and it precisely was to avoid having the same final pairing two years in a row.

futbol's post is embarrassing. You better show some humility, as this is serious stuff.

What about it? Another one of those ties Barca got the short stick in refereeing, should've had two penalties before any Abidal magic red cards or the handballs. Tie should been over, but as always Uefa referee rats trie to even artificially ties against Barca.

That's a blatant red lol. You can't trip a player through on goal.

Shevchenko wrongly disallowed goal, RVP getting a red card for absolutely nothing, Motta red card, Pepe red card & the infamous Ovrebo scandal biggest refereeing disgrace in professional sports.

Wasn't until LE that you actually won a CL without getting bailed out by refs.

Van Persie should have had red already in the first half lmao.

1. Should have been a yellow:

Who will win the Champions League this year? - Page 3 Di-RB7L

2. Was a yellow, could have been a red:

Who will win the Champions League this year? - Page 3 Di-2EVL

3.0. Third offence was a yellow:
3.1. Here you can hear the whistle loud and clear:

http://tinypic.com/player.php?v=2evvrso&s=6

3.2. Here you can see RvP to look the direction of the flag

Who will win the Champions League this year? - Page 3 Di-O2UE

4. There is 1.1s from the start of the whistle to the start of the shot. Average human reaction time is 0.2s when he's expecting something to happen, 0.5s when he isn't expecting something to happen.

Again Barca getting the short stick after onside goal ruled offside in 1st leg.

I like to slap fake football fans with copy&paste. That's exactly why I use time and money to make these in the first place, eventually they will pay off, handsomely. smoking

It's no use debating harmonica as he's incapable of objectivity, as sure as he was to provide some gifs.
Anyway, it's off topic, but again, Barca fans should tread carefully - it's not that their CL win was undeserved so much as they should be really, really reflective and humble of the circumstances.

The most undeserved CL win is Chelsea in 2012 parking the bus in every game and scrapping lucky wins.

The Chelsea of 2009 is not the Chelsea of 2012.
Again, I'm not saying Barca's CL wins are 'undeserved', Pepcelona was one of the greatest teams ever, 2 CL wins is not 'undeserved' for such a team.

But in that semi Chelsea were as good as they will ever be. That wasn't Mourinho or Di Matteo.
It was a close game of two strong teams, but Chelsea would have progressed if not for blatantly wrong refereeing.
That's it.
That doesn't nullify Barca's achievement, but boasting about that semi is surely not appropriate.

Foul play is impossible to prove (as a rattled Hiddink said after the game), and usually I'm very reluctant about conspiracies.
Ovrebro is a terrible referee and that might be that.
Also of course Barca did score the goal, so a ref can never 'decide' a game in totality.
But I've never seen another high profile game where it seemed so fishy, and as I said, one of the rare instances where UEFA had a clear motive for bias, or influencing, to whatever degree.

Lets face it. Pep ruined barca with that lame eto'o-ibra exchange and selling villa in exchange of sanchez yet, curiously added fabregas otherwise we would have walked the cl 3 times in a row, just as he would have as well ended his tenure with just a single cl.
What futbol said echoed my post in the guardiola appreciation thread.

I'll give you back your 2 gifted goals if you give me the (at least) 2 clear hanball penalties we should have had before halftime.
Then, the outcome is the same.

If you want to talk to me, be honest. At least, make an effort.

In terms which team I think should have retained the CL since the renaming, it has to be Ancelotti's Milan. Not only retaining once but consecutively retaining. From 2003-2007 they were *bleep* scary in Europe.

Dida, Maldini, Nesta, Costacurta, Stam, Cafu, Serginho, Gattuso, Seedorf, Pirlo, Ambrosini, Rui Costa, Kaka, Rivaldo, Shevchenko, Crespo, Inzaghi, Dahl Tomasson with the few exceptions were all mainstays in that team during their primes. How *bleep* more stacked could you possibly get?

- 02-03 they win

- 03-04 they let a 4-1 lead from the first leg slip away in the quarters to Super Depor. It was glorious to myself and neutrals of course, the banter was unreal. Should have easily won that year. They were better than any team in Europe. Would have dispatched Porto or Monaco quite easily imo.

- 04-05 I don't even have to tell you about Istanbul. Biggest choke in all of sports history. Laughing

- 05-06 completely outplayed Barca in the semi at San Siro, yet they somehow managed to lose. That Barca team wasn't as well balances as the Milan side. That first leg result killed them. there was no way they could win at the Camp Nou.

- 07-06 they win.

Honestly should have won 5 in a row.

The problem I have with this is we don't bring it up as much as others do, did we get favourable calls? Yes, of course we did, but the gif Harmonica posted are you saying that couldn't have been a PK

Who will win the Champions League this year? - Page 3 LqTiF4t

If that was converted and we had headed to Stamford Bridge with a 1 - 0 lead whats to say the game would've ended the way it did?

As far as other things go with were also screwed in the Inter game, but yet its Busquets incident that overshadows that game, yet you don't have us complaining as much as other people about that Chelsea, I mean Inter even benefited with calls in the game against Chelsea, yet you don't seem them complaining as it was Mou team.

Would you dispute any of these calls?

So, even if we were to lose out against Chelsea we should've gotten this one if not for poor officiating.

As far as it goes with an agenda I don't believe it. That Chelsea V United final would've been good for UEFA a rematch and revenge set up with two English team that come from a league that has massive showing worldwide would've been $$$ galore for them. I can claim Inter got the bias calls because UEFA didn't want Barcelona winning back to back titles?

Those were the days Proud

The greatest FIFA team of all time
