He definitely broke down barriers for indie stars. Before there was a "lol big fish in small pond will drown in ocean WWE" mentality but now they are much more welcoming. A huge influx of indie big names, Sami Zayn, Neville, Finn Balor, Chris Hero, Apollo Crews, Samoa Joe, Austin Aries, Hideo Itami, Nakamura, AJ Styles all coming after Bryan's sucess story paying of is not a coincidence.

Rey was a high flying luchador though, so him being small wasn't a problem. Bryan's just your average small guy.

I will admit smaller guys did get a chance before if they stood out. Guys like Eddie and Jericho were extremely charismatic, while Benoit was a great worker. If they stood out, they got opportunities.

But with Bryan's success, there's more of an emphasis on treating smaller guys fairly and just as equally as the bigger guys. As I said, 90% of NXT's main event has been smaller guys in the past few years. Would that have happened 5 years ago? I don't know.

Indies stars? sure fair enough i can agree with that although i think HHH already had the idea in motion with NXT tbf. Bryan just accelerated it due to his success.

MT said small guys though, that isn't the same as Samoa Joe is far from small. hmm

I actually agree, a lot of people hate on Miz but there's a few things he's actually good at. One of them is that he knows how to play the crowd at a masterful level.

Miz has improved a lot since his generic cocky heel days back in 2011. Great mic skills, an actual character and he's charismatic. He's basically a poor mans combo of Rock/Y2J, which is a good thing imo.
