Re: Pep Guardiola's adventures in Manchester City
That's the point of learning tho, if he doesn't play these type of formation the players will never adjust to them. It was the same at Barcelona/BM were he played similar weird formation (which cost us points at times, lets not forget his away games in CL), but eventually the team adjusted to it. His final year at BM is an example the amount of variation they had and were able to change formation on the fly was amazing to see. Throughout his career these formation and experiments have benefited him, yes he doesn't always get it right.
As far as back 3 go City have only conceded 9 shots on target in 3-4 games playing the back three, they completely dominated Everton and missed 2 PK with the same formation, I don't think his back 3 has been that big of a problem thus far. And Stones/Kompany screwing up with the pass doesn't mean his back 3 was the problem.
Klopp approach is similar to that of Dortmund, he's just had time to adjust to the PL and his squad (he joined Oct. last year), were as Pep has only had 15 games. As nick said in reality Pep squad is still going to need improvement and a lot of players aren't good enough for what he wants and what he has coached before.

Re: Pep Guardiola's adventures in Manchester City
Can someone explain why he straight up copied Conte's formation instead of returning to what was working earlier in the season? Why the switch to 343 all of a sudden?

Injuries, so he has no RB at the moment.

It's nothing like a 'straight up copy', of course, it's a very different 3-4-3.
While Conte's 3-4-3 uses proper wingbacks while the 2 attackers behind Costa are playing rather narrow, Pep's 3-4-3 has almost square midfield, or a maybe tilted diamond, and 2 wingers.
So Conte's a 3-4-2-1 while Pep's more a 3-2-4-1

Seems like semantics to me.
Two CB's & a fullback in the 3 at the back. 2 Wingers, 2 CM's & 2 AM's.

Watching the last minutes of the league cup against Utd.
Pep's City are boring and poor.

Re: Pep Guardiola's adventures in Manchester City
Were they that bad? Because Spurs reserves were very average. So they had to have been pretty bad to be worse. Well, they played like what they were--teenagers playing against good players and weren't able to produce shite until Wanyama and Lamela came on. They looked decent passing the ball around tho.
Anyway, I think City will turn this around and probably win the next 6 games or so. People thinking Pep won't walk this league

I don't know how people predict that he has a fake attitude
No winning for the guy if he complains people have an issue, if he praises people he's fake
@CBarca, yes they were terrible. Didn't even register a single shot on target.

Pep hasn't been successful since he managed Messi, that says it all.

I think it had to do more with selection, tactics and instructions. It was clear that they played very direct yesterday compared to all I have seen from City in this season. I mean there is some basic movement and basic passes which even school boys can do. And imo they were so bad yesterday. Putting crosses after crosses for the likes of Sergio and Ihenacho, that was almost Moyseisque football. Absolutely no interchanging of passes.

Messi carried Pep- xaviesta carried Messi- but iniesta is fraud and was carried by xavi- xavi was not special until Pep used him correctly- but Messi carried pep- and so on. Dimwits
