OT: Yassine Benzia

Another Benz who is shining at the age of 17 for the Lyon youth team. Has 5 goals for France in the U-17 world cup currently in progress (2nd best scorer in the tournament).

This past year in the Lyon youth team, Benzia had 36 goals in 22 games.

Algerian-French background. Very talented striker. France is playing Mexico this evening in the U-17 world cup. Worth a watch.

In the 1/8 round game against Ivory Coast, France went down 0-2. Benzia then scored two goals and dished an assist. France wins 3-2.

And btw, Coulibaly for Ivory Coast is going to be star in the future, if he keeps his head straight.

Not officially. He's being tracked i'm sure. Coulibaly.. Madrid can actually get now or soon. Benzia... no way in hell Lyon lets him go given the direction the club is taking.

Since he's already getting exposure with France nt, he's backing off his earlier quotes as wanting to play for Algeria dude. Unfortunately, the chaotic state of the Algerian nt has made it his backup plan.

If all goes to plan and he progresses and performs to this level, he will get called up for a France nt friendly after the euro is my guess.

Benzema was crazy hyped. He started getting A team action at Lyon at the age of 17-18... and those Lyon teams were very, very good. Once he became a full time starter for season for this first time in 2007-2008, Benzema scored 31 goals in a season for Lyon at the age of 20. Just exploded onto the scene.

Think he plays for us now. He's good but he's not there yet. He's definitely not a bad player but he has things to work on

He's complete crap Fennec.  Horrible attitude and hasn't improved an inch.  Lyon sold Martial for this guy... but he was so horrible and had such a bad attitude, they basically threw him out the door a year later.  1.2 mil euro transfer. You have to be a special kind of terrible if Aulas is willing to dump you for basically free when you're 20 years old.

Too bad.  He has talent.  But he's mentally very very soft.
