So glad I discovered my Andalucian roots and started following Spain like Moal and Firenze.

Not watching the game, but from what I've been reading:

Henderson is useless in midfield.
Rooney is useless in midfield.
Lallana and Sterling keep coming towards the ball and not making runs because the midfield is useless.
Kane is having a shocker because he has no service because the midfield is useless.

That about right?

Wonder what justifcation there is for not including Wilshere and Barkley. Form is one thing, but in the former you have someone who can play CM and pass through the lines and in the latter you have someone who knows how to position himself intelligently even if his decision making is poor. Imagine having midfielders that know what they're doing.

But okay, if they don't want to go that route, why not go full Leicester-style 4-4-2? We don't have the creators and midfielders for any other type of football, but we have decent forwards. So screw it, let's go old school. Pointless trying to play in any other way without the right players.

"Wayne played where he wanted to,” Allardyce said after he was questioned about Rooney’s deep midfield role.
“I think [Rooney] holds a lot more experience at international football than I do as an international manager,” Allardyce said. “So, when he’s using his experience and playing as a team member, it’s not for me to say where he’s going to play.”

Why is nobody discussing this ? Utter clown. Its like saying "I am Rooni's whore and he can fck me in whichever position he wants". England fans stay safe. Neutral

I didn't watch the game, but if Rooney is making right choices on and off the ball in a free role, there's no harm him having one. It's not like he'd be the first player ever to have a free role on the field.

 scratch You are talking about the same Wayne Rooney right ? The fat pos who plays for Man United and England ? To assume Wayne Roonei will come good in a free role and support that decision by Fat Sam. really!!! He is the bloody fkin coach of the England NT. How can he come out and say he will bend over and take whatever Rooney does on the field. Say he has more international experience than me and can hence do whatever he want on the field. rofl Proud

What signal is it going to send to your younger players, when a coach talks like that. I mean. Come on. And its not like he is a decorated manager who has won things. He is a novice in NT management and to say that after your first match is.. it will seep off all the morale and confidence the young players got if they think their coach lacks balls.

Anyway why do I care. I seriously suspect England will even qualify for Russia now with an approach like this and lol Fat Rooney as a player-manager.

Rashford has a hat-trick Laughing

Can't believe the likes of Ward-Prowse, Chalobah and Redmond and STILL playing U21 football. These guys came through in 2012 ffs

His conversion rate is pretty unreal right now. Everything he kicks is going inside the net somehow. Laughing Still think he is enjoying a purple patch and shortly there will be a dip in form. The kid's bloody too young to be as consistent as this.

Anyway England senior NT has got better CFs I believe. In fact thats one of the area where theres enough quality. Sturridge and Kane (not sure if he fits all systems) are better than him plus theres Vardy. Cant really blame Sam for not picking him tbh. Its better he plays u21 and build confidence and get experience. It might augur well for the senior team in the long run.

Rashford is such a wonderful talent.

From the talent he should be part of the grown ups NT. But then again I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy, let alone that likeable, hugely talented young kid.

We all know what happens next. He's caught smoking shisha somewhere, then som minor injury with him not making the international window turns to pundits bemoaning the lack of national pride and effort in todays youth.

Next thing you know, there's a contract dispute and he receives universal hate from United fans and the public.

Better leave him alone for another year or two IMO

Lingard and Rashford called up by Southgate to the England squad.

Don't rate Lingard that highly but thought he was due a call up.

Also Glen Johnson was called up scratch

Fraser Forster (Southampton), Joe Hart (Torino, loan from Manchester City), Tom Heaton (Burnley)

Ryan Bertrand (Southampton), Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Phil Jagielka (Everton), Glen Johnson (Stoke City), Danny Rose (Tottenham Hotspur), Chris Smalling (Manchester United), John Stones (Manchester City), Kyle Walker (Tottenham Hotspur)

Eric Dier (Tottenham Hotspur), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Arsenal), Michail Antonio (West Ham United), Jesse Lingard (Manchester United), Raheem Sterling (Manchester City), Theo Walcott (Arsenal), Dele Alli (Tottenham Hotspur)

Wayne Rooney (Manchester United), Marcus Rashford (Manchester United), Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool), Jamie Vardy (Leicester City)
