Well for a few reasons. They have the war chest for money they plan on using on reinforcements PLUS the money they make from sales. If they keep Arda, I don't think the money we would make off him is the issue but getting his wages off the books as we already have on of the highest wage structure in Europe. Plus having a guy like him just rotting on the bench, wouldn't make sense to sign yet another guy that does what he does in midfield on top of Roberto, Iniesta, Denis, Rakitic, Gomes, Rafinha. that's much too many guys. They sell Rafinha and Arda and we get a marquee signing I bet. If we can't sell them, I wouldn't be surprised if we don't even make any serious moves.

That's understandable but we would not make any serious moves anyway, that Seri guy is decent but not something over the top that we can't afford. I'd be worried about wages if we were to sign Verratti or somebody like that but thats not happening, pfff..... With this board we shouldnt expect any good moves, so there goes hope for the summer. Our deductions mean shit because those on the top are dumb as fuuuuk

How this would work is that Dembele would be on the bench. Not going to happen. He's not going to move already in summer when he's just establishing himself at the top, not with a WC next year.

My question is, can be play as a CAM? Maybe they want to turn him into a Coutinho type midfielder, long term replacement for Iniesta? That's just a random ass question I don't watch the kid play much I could be way off. Just bringing it, cause Iniesta will be 34 next year, it's time the club starts trying to figure what to do for the future. I imagine he will already be rested allot this upcoming season. With Veratti playing the CM role, that means Rakitic will finally play more like he did in his Sevilla days, which is more of an attacked role and that should help him play to his full potential.

Also wanted to point out, ex-Masia player Jona schooled the ubber crap out of Gomes today in the Confederations Cup. The class between them was HUGE today, and Jona wasn't even seen as a sub player in our glorious midfield back then, so what in the world made Roberto and the board think to sign Gomes for our midfield as a starter this season? Makes no sense.

Dembele, I'm conflicted. He gets a chance only if any of the MSN are injured... which is not a lot. It would stunt his growth imo. Unless Valverde actively uses him to pressure MSN (like when Suarez was misfiring many times this season). Still, not sure how he fits in there.

Wonder what that means for Paco too.
