Can Real Madrid fans hate Ronaldo and still be considered real fans?

For all he has done for them, it amazes me some people call themselves fans when they can't be if they are Anti-Ronaldo.

It's like a Barca fan saying Messi needs to be benched. It just don't work like that

Of course. If a player is detrimental to the club it doesn't really matter what they did before, its fair game to bench them.

Barca's fans calling for Ronaldinho out when he declined were still Barca fans. Or Madrid fans with Casillas. Or Roma fans with Totti. Or United fans with Rooney. Etc.

Because he's fake, he hasn't done anything to your team other than reaping all the glory. What, a single ref infested La Liga in 8 years and he could be stealing his 3rd Ballon d'Or.

Any player can be benched once their past it or in really bad form, but its another thing when your hoping for the team to implode for dislike of a player or sucking off your rivals players to heights, when you never treated players on a team where you claim you support the same.

99% of so called RM fans dreams of being   poor mans barca, to the point where isco is the best mid cause he is a extremely poor man iniesta coincidence? Of course not.

Obviously if a player is effecting your team in a negative way, you should call him out. and no, his past achievement does not matter.

I don't hate him. But he either improves or rides the bench. People know I am a huge fan of his. But I'm fair, and if he wants to look like Rooney out there I can't defend him.

Of course they can. Both ways: the hardcore Ronaldo fans who love the player and want him to play and the more realistic down to earth Madrid fans who want him benched because in his current form he is not adding anything to the team. You can be a club fan and still have attachment to certain players. Like, I wouldn't have minded Rosicky to start every Arsenal game even though he was far from physically capable of it.

raul wasn't exactly liked towards the end of the madrid stint.....there was a sort of split, similar to what happened to iker...as they say "time heals all wounds". but there were moments madrid fans didn't want him in the line up or at the club anymore.....and who could blame them? there was a season or two where was averaging like 7 la liga goals a season and maybe 11 in all competitions and playing 90 mins week in week out
