Lucas trained, so it seems he'll be involved. Given our injuries, I hope we play:

Ospina; Gabriel, Mustafi, Holding, Monreal; Niles, Ramsey; Lucas, Iwobi, Chamberlain; Giroud

Mustafi needs the game time after his injury, and we have to take extra care that neither Ramsey nor Xhaka get injured or suspended now. Playing them both in a potentially physical cup tie would make me nervous. Xhaka's been playing a lot recently and Ramsey needs the games, so I'd go with Ramsey.

Preston are having a decent season and are strong on set-piece. It could be a more competitive game than some think.

Hope we see Welbeck return tomorrow.

So we're going to take a chance on our only two available CMs in a cup match. Seems only Koscielny, Bellerin, Ozil and Alexis are allowed to be rotated.

This Gabriel and Mustaphi's partnership, no leadership whatsoever. We would have been better off with Holding on the pitch.

Well, that was atrocious. We somehow defended worse than we did against Bournemouth. Niles struggled and he's allowed to, but Mustafi, Gabriel, Monreal - all experienced, first choice players, played like chumps against average Championship strikers. They received laughable protection from Xhaka and Ramsey, who let McGeady run through them multiple times. Ox was awful as well, indecisive and wasteful on the ball.

We couldn't play around the press of a Championship side.

Giroud sure is scoring some decisive goals right now.

No. The first half performance was worse than the one at Bournemouth. Preston could have been 3-0 up at half-time
