Fact is that he can agree personal terms with any team he wants. Players usually get sounded out about their potential contracts at an interested club before a move is made. That way the club doesn't move for an uninterested player.

Whether we sell him is up to us. It doesn't make sense financially to risk missing out on the CL unless we got a crazy offer up near 100m.

And in the case that a club were willing to pay that much, they might consider it more prudent to just let him run his contract down.

Yeah, this whole saga is getting annoying for the sheer amount of "player has agreed terms". Means jack without agreeing terms with the club and the club doesn't want to do business.

Granted, if PSG are offering serious cash it might be something worth considering. But in that case we'd have a replacement sorted out beforehand and I don't know who we could get.

I feel going after Lemar, Mahrez and Mbappe (or at least our interest in the three. It seems to have been stronger with the Monaco pair) was an indication that we'd be open to selling Alexis if we could reshape our attack with two of those players + Lacazette.

We could have kept Alexis and still have had interest in 1/2 of them but the fact that Mbappe and Lemar seem off limits is probably affecting our openness to the idea of selling Alexis.

£80m would be enough but if we can squeeze more then go for it, QSG seem desperate this summer, don't think they are interested in waiting a year for him.

Spend the cash needed to get Lemar and Mahrez.

The rest of our budget on van Dijk and for once we start the season strongly.

I'm all for taking PSG's money for Alexis, provided we can get a replacement. That's the sticking point for me. Even with Lacazette picking up some of the scoring slack, we're still looking for a winger who can double figures for assists and 15-20 goals.

It's be horrific to sell him only to find in August we can't replace him and end up in a Fabregas/Nasri situation again.

Urban, feel like u're setting urself up for disappointment. Lemar is a long saga where I feel like Monaco got all the leverage and Arsenal is too classy (or not aggressive enough) to push. If we sell Sanchez, better nail Mahrez down 1st cause Leicester will milk us dry if we go for him after selling. Haven't heard a word about Van Dijk so I assume he's your dream target, we are trying to sell Chambers so not sure if we're in market for another defender.

The worst case scenario is we sell Sanchez and somehow settle with Lucas Perez on the wing, that would be nightmare.

Yeah I know I'm posting about what we should do rather than what we will do.

Still think that if we want to properly replace Alexis we need two players, no player of Alexis' quality is going to join us so we need to replace him collectively.

Even Mahrez looks close to joining Roma now :facepalm:

honestly since we went to Australia it's been a shitshow regarding the transfer window.

It's definitely gone flat since the Lemar stuff. We're even at that stage where Wenger is saying things like "let's look around and see what we can do", which is Wenger-speak for "we've exhausted our original list of targets and don't know what to do".

No sales yet, either. We rejected a £10m bid for Gibbs today apparently. Debuchy, Jenkinson, Lucas all still here.

The better clubs don't want to touch Wilshere with his injury record. Hasn't gone a year without injury since he brokethrough in 2010.

Arsenal have told PSG Alexis is not for sale and now the deal is unlikely to happen, btw. Almost as if having an agreement with the player doesn't mean much without agreement with the club hmm

Le Parisien (I think it was) said that the move won't happen for two reasons:
1. Arsene Wenger refuses to sell Alexis
2. Alexis's camp got too greedy with contract demands

Only one of those reasons is actually why a move won't happen though...

With Alexis staying, only one of Mahrez/Lemar is needed. Get Mahrez this summer and try again for Lemar next year.
