Looked up the quotes after you mentioned this. If this is true then it's incredible

Tottenham stuck with the lad through thick and thin even when it looked like he wasn't good enough. Poch came in and emphasized the role him and Walker play and set up a system for the two outside backs to flourish. He recently signed a new contract and it's not long before the season opener

Horrible professionalism, if it's true. Clearly he sees the cash flow that's going around England at the moment and wants in on it.

Glad to see Cou potentially moving for big monies. Was one of the OG fanboys of his back when he was at Inter.

I mean, you definitely can, its just that you find more examples of players succeeding going from left foot/left wing ---> to left foot right winger (vice versa as well). Heck jut look at Deu, not a world beater but guy played his best football with us, i think. Forced Barca to buy him. Felipe Anderson as well, hyped to the stratosphere back in his LW days, now a passable RW?
Cuadrado another example, albeit a bit different, he played SS under Montella, thats where he played his best football and had Chelsea capitulate on him. Tomovic was the RB/RM for the most part of that period.

I mean you can definitely find examples opposing me, but i dont know, it just feels normal having that kind of thing. Douglas Costa i think is was a RW, now a left footed LW, not sure how you'd rate his Bayern tenure.

It depends on the characteristics of the players. I'd look at the qualities of my wingers, CF, CM's, and FB's to see what kinda of profile I'd play on the wing.

The strength of outside wingers is that when they run with the ball to the byline and cross the ball, the players in the middle have the ability to charge towards the ball, something that isn't always possible when you're playing a left footed player on the RW and vice-versa.

So if I have a fast winger with good dribbling ability, central midfielders who are good in the box, and a CF who is a good header of the ball, I'd play an outside winger. It also depends on the fullbacks. If the fullbacks are useless out wide, I'd want my wingers to hug the touchline and make my fullbacks play more narrow, that way they have less responsibility and their job is to circulate the ball more than anything else.

If I have athletic fullbacks who can control the wings, and central midfielders who are good on the ball, I'd want my wingers to take more responsibility in the final 3rd. So they'll end up occupying more central spaces, which gets them more involved, hence them often getting more goals.

The second strategy is obviously more common and easier to apply. So those are the kind of players most clubs look for now and I don't blame them.

They going to get hurt.

Ultimately Barcelona isn't trying hard enough. Coutinho signed a new 5 year deal in January with no release clause and seems in no hurry to put in a TR.

A) He's not.
B) Correct, Which is why they'd want someone like Dembele over him.
