So Liverpool would not need to agree a fee, especially not one that is higher than the clause

What? We are paying a premium above the release clause just so that we can get the deal done early and not compete with the likes of Bayern next season. Meanwhile Leipzig get to keep him for their CL season and also get more money for him than they would've gotten otherwise.

At best, it betrays a huge insecurity whether the player would still want to join you in a year...

Isn't Salah playing the left wing role that Coutinho plays already? I figured Salah was the Coutinho replacement and Keita is coming in to replace Can next year who is rumored to be going to Juve by then.
