Bailly is a system player, its proven. Carried by Mou's park the bus setup. A younger, more agile Zapata, thats about it imo.

United wasted 3 minutes of the five and it was called at 97'

Spurs have now lost eight consecutive FA Cup semi-finals.
Need United to lose the final now. Can't have them equalling our record.

Disgusting that Spurs loses so many games like this though
Honestly hate that football club with a passion. United hardly in Spurs half the entire game and somehow they've conceded twice.
Juventus game all over again, honestly.

What a season for the Spurs though
Trofeo della group stage 2017-18
Round of 16 finalists
FA Cup Semi finalists
Put the pressure on the top 4 race
Gave Harry Kane the credit for every goal scored so that he could end up second to Salah

You mention how much United was in Spurs' half like that matters. lol The game was fairly equal. The stats say it was United's 10 shots to Spurs' 8. Besides Alli's goal, the other shot on target came from a tame shot from Eriksen. Embarrassing attacking performance really.
Just face it - Spurs was exceptionally poor today. They never looked like scoring with all of that useless possession, with crosses that Smalling and Jones easily won and no final pass to make easy chances for their players.

Re: Premier League 17-18 Discussion Part 9 - The End
I literally said that Spurs didn't deserve to win the game. I didn't say "United hardly in Spurs half" like it was a bad thing for United, I said it like it was embarrassing for Spurs to have conceded twice from it, because I've seen it several times this season.
Shot total is not a stat worth looking at lol
Spurs were poor. I said they didn't deserve the win.
What exactly are you on about here?
My argument is that I'm upset with Spurs for losing so many games like this where the team has scored out of nothing twice. United offered zero this game and played like shit. So did Spurs. Yet somehow Spurs managed to lose it
Full credit to United, they offered nothing and still won. That only reflects badly on Spurs. You're acting like I'm criticizing United. I'm not, I'm stating the facts of the game. Both teams didn't really offer anything offensively and Spurs lost which is absolutely bonkers from a club that does this multiple times per season.

We are not hoping to win any trophy. Our realistic aim for this season has always been a top 4 finish.

Just like looking at how much one team is in the other's half is not something worth looking at either. Football is a game with ebbs and flows. Yes, the attacking quality from both sides was not amazing but the game did not lack intensity. It just seems like you have some sort of irrational ideals about how a game should go, if you ask me.

Re: Premier League 17-18 Discussion Part 9 - The End
That's not true at all.
Again, I was criticizing Spurs.
I didn't say "united were hardly in Spurs half and yet scored twice those lucky plebs", I said "united were hardly and Spurs have and somehow they've conceded twice"
I will admit that I have some ideals about how the game should be played, and those ideals are that I'd never support a Mourinho led team. Sure they got the win here today and that's commended, and Spurs should be criticized and that's exactly what I'm doing. However, at least I get to watch good football the entire season.
Would rather slice my wrists than watch Mou-football for an entire season.
So yeah, those are my ideals. Because I watch football to be entertained. If you think that's irrational, then that's your opinion.

Re: Premier League 17-18 Discussion Part 9 - The End
Spurs have suffered from poor personnel decisions in defense (and unfortunate injuries).
The team should have been ready to make the leap this year, but the defense went from
Rose-Vertonghen-Alderweireld-Walker
to
Davies-Vertonghen-Sanchez-Trippier/Aurier
So much of Spurs attacks, like Chelsea's, have run through the outside backs. Some of it is unlucky, nobody expected Alderweireld to be out for months on end, missing most of the season. Nobody expected Danny Rose to get injured for over 7 months, and then come back and clearly regress. Davies and Trippier are not good enough of fullbacks in the modern day if you want to win with a squad like Spurs. They're good enough if you're Barca, or maybe Juventus, or Madrid where your overall talent is good enough that *decent* outside backs like Davies and Trippier can coexist, but Spurs need that production from their outside backs, and Trippier and Davies don't provide it. Toby was also quite talented in passing out from the back, something that Sanchez doesn't provide.
Where they should be better, then, is defensively, but they aren't that either. Sanchez is 20 years old and inexperienced, though hugely talented. He's inconsistent and prone to mistakes. Trippier is no better defensively than Walker, and arguably worse. Davies is about equal to, maybe even slightly better than Rose defensively.
No clue what happened to Wanyama, who was huge last season, and I think a clearly superior player to Dier. My hunch is that with the defense being not as good as they used to be offensively, Poch feels he has to play Dier who offers more by way of passing between lines than Wanyama.
Spurs offensive players are about as good as they've ever been. Eriksen is on his best form. Son is as well, Lamela is back and is a good player to be able to rotate in. Dele has been fantastic the last two months and while perhaps not at his goalscoring best, is creating better than he ever has. Dembele has been great in the midfield.
But Spurs, through injuries and selling Walker, have clearly declined in their back line. This has caused them to suffer defensively and also offensively; and that has made all the difference.

I keep forgetting Sanchez is just 20 years old, for his age he's much better than majority of other hyped CB were then, could be a big player in the future, we'll see. His lack of football IQ will come with time and that's his biggest weakness. I don't think he's ready to replace Aldi though if the latter leaves, should sign Evans or Smalling from us
Spurs were shite today, we were slightly less shite. I'll take it though, another final ffs.
