Slightly off-topic but why are there shouts from people claiming that Lewandowski had it in the bag? It doesn't matter how many goals Lewa scores in Bundesliga. He's never going to win the Ballon d'Or unless he wins the CL.

The Ballon d'Or would've been decided by whoever had the most instrumental performance in the CL anyways. Their decision to cancel it this season doesn't make sense.

The number of goals is not that important when you consider the difference between an 30 goal a season striker and a 20 goal a season striker is just 10 penalties.

Penalties aside, Numbers in many cases hide the truth. even for strikers.

look at Ronaldo. since joining Juve he has scored about 50 goals if i'm not mistaken. but has he made them better? Nah. they were better without him.

Benzema is way more important for Madrid than just goals. he is playing 10 and 9 at the same time.

Yeah but if Jjuve hadn't bought 33 year old Ronaldo for 120m € and paid him something like another 120m € in wages since, they most probably would have some kind of extra quality in other parts of the squad

Like Hans says though, if the same amount of money is invested we could have some other game winners, who knows.

What's sure is that Ronaldo is having a monster season. There is a big gap in our season between the performances of Ronaldo and Dybala, and the rest of the team.

Removing the Ballon d'Or 2020 what is the logic behind such decision taken in july ? From my research it seems the committee "don't think all the settings are reunited" but football is a very simple game it's not a big effort to award who was the best overall

Me i don't even care for Ballon d'Ors usually but some important player of my club thrives for it. Other players also have it as objective. Coronafootball is still football, an asterisk was sufficient

Maybe. Its a hypothetical. In attack there is no better player than Ronaldo in the world except for Messi, I don't think any other forward that Juve could have gotten would have the effect Ronaldo had this season. Their midfield is their weak link though, 120 million there would have helped them a lot.

And yet, something tells me that he wouldn’t necessarily even be in the top 3 if this award ceremony hadn’t been cancelled. Their own criteria have meant fk all for the longest time now.

Too bad BDO got canceled, even if he didn't win it he would have been top 3 good for him, nice to he got the deserved recognition from the Media and now most can stop pretending like the guy was some lackey passing the ball and shit.

The 34th la liga title secured his legacy and no amount of not a pure 9 bs,gonna erase the fact he carried the team overall just like cr did, with half the service and support in the attack its all him, no hazard or Jovic to push the credit falsely on.

Even though benzema got his big victory in his twilight years, but he still wasted a majority of his prime years,it's kinda sad watching him try so hard to accomplish couple things this late, he should have at least an extra 80 to 120 goals for his totally at this point for real madrid, if he can help lead the team next season to a trophy, he can leave like a boss and his numbers will be respectable.

I honestly believe he came to the club too early, should've established himself and learned from sir Alex, and moved as an official galactico, but instead he got stuck being compared to freaking higuain forever, being hated and underrated for just being better than the guy from day one,who else but a higuain fanboys would hate a dude for 10+ years straight, even after all the trophies and big goals he scored in his own right, where are these imaginary pure 9 goals I always hear about? Never understood why his goals were classed different? Anyway I will take those clutch single goals please, than a 100 goals winless seasons from the commander thanks.

It's a blessing that Real Madrid's most important player is banned from France's NT. He gets 2 weeks of rest during international breaks without injury/fatigue risk. Kinda unfair to other teams IMHO.
