and yet Liverpool at them on the ropes for a majority of the 2nd half... i've never seen a team go toe-to-toe, and sometimes even outplay and outhustle a Pep team like Klopp's Liverpool

We also did something similar a few years ago in the first half at the Emirates in the game we got a red card and Rodri scored a last minute winner

Yeah but consistency is important, Man City do it at a rate that is beyond what any other team is capable of by quite a margin.

gameplan was almost spot on except for our on-ball application... if only Trossard squared the ball to Martinelli first time...

it's quite simple now though... we gotta win out, pray and do an enormous amount of black magic for someone to beat Liverpool and their refs

Did Keane really call Haaland a League 2 player Laughing PL don't deserve him. Should've come to Madrid when he had the chance

Keane shouldn't be too hard on Haaland, for Saliba-Gabriel is the best CB partnership in the world... completely shut Haaland down in 3 games this season

Btw still cant believe we snatched City's best player for free, Gundo was the glue !!

They were both frequent starters, but still rotational players. I don’t think either of them started more than 3 or so games in a row. Useful contributors to the team, sure. I wouldn’t go so far as to refer to any of them as «glue», though Premier League 2023/24 - Page 10 1f605 both of them hit form after the turn of the year, when players who start every single game tend to start feeling some fatigue creeping up. In that sense, they were both important players in the squad.

I haven’t watched Barca much this season, but I believe I suggested prior to Gundogan’s transfer that he would likely experience drops in form and consistency as a starter. He’s a quality player, but everyone has a physical limit. Mahrez, and to a lesser extent, Gundogan played rather poorly during the first half of their last season at Man City and that poor form is also part of the reason why they fell behind in the title race in the first place. Like, Luca Modric, they have plenty of talent to offer, but their legs and lungs are no longer in their prime and that will affect consistency.

Gundogan is definitely a big miss, and i knew he would be as soon as the transfer happened... Mahrez was more of a bit part player, City have struggled more not having Grealish consistently fit this season

True but games like these Gundo was a player that could break the deadlock. Man City failed to win most if not all games against the top teams in the league this season where you need that differential player to step up. Thats the reason they aren't #1

Even though Gundo wasn't a set in stone starter he was often the one who made the difference when going got tough, Kovacic has barely 1/4 the impact.

Gundogan was City's late season MVP.

Changed game after game, making clutch plays and goals. I think it's safe to say City misses him. He came in big time when Haaland went missing and unless Halaand turns up now or someone else steps up, it could be a costly loss.

City has a lot pf quality and depth though, far more than their rivals. Can't wait to see how the season unravels tbh.

they lack quality in depth in the midfield this season imo... Kovacic and Nunez can't even offer 1/4 of what Gundo did as Myescats said... they're much better off sending Stones or Rico Lewis into the midfield

and then up front Haaland and Bernardo Silva haven't hit the heights of last season

Think its fair to say Man C in general underperformed often this season in comparison, even with De Bruyne out, Rodri stepped up as many ppl inc. Pep himself rating him the best MF in the world, but still just enough to stay third... behind an Arsenal without even a really effective no.9 n Liverpool with all their injuries...

Doku been a bit inconsistent but overall happy with him given its his first yr, Haaland was unbelievable for a longgg time n its only natural I guess hes dropped off a bit. Kovacic is one surprise that hasnt been good enough, I thought he would be better especially when so many players Pep manage to improve when he brings them in. Gardiol definitely been overrated I think, n perhaps no one has ever managed Man C might have missed Cancelos magic a bit as well? Very Happy

Still think Man C just need to keep the pressure up, the front 2 will drop points, if not they would be breaking records to win all their games left?

Foden hattrick Very Happy This kid has great mentality n Man C needed him. Why Pep is playing Grealish again is beyond me... Doku is hit n miss but at least even 1 in 10 chances he makes is threatening, better than boring Grealish? Just playing Haaland n Alvarez after this pls...

Dunno about that lol... I appreciate he can be a top player, but hes more of a creator than a winger n hence he cant often beat his man n is better going inside n making plays. Pretty sure De Bruyne is the one that really makes them tick. But lucky there are so many in the team that can step up so can take turns.

Foden has now scored as many hattricks as the likes of CR in the PL just read? Amazing Smile

I’ve been impressed by what I’ve seen from Mainoo in general, but that was a horrible loss of possession that lead to Chelsea’s goal. And I feel like they concede a goal like that in every other game these days.

He may be the best English player currently, but I feel that some people tend to overrate him. Hattricks and the occasional screamer are always a welcome sight, but if he had played for Real Madrid, I’d prefer it if he had a more consistent performance level rather than spectacular flashes of brilliance. I feel the same way about Jack Grealish, who’s even more inconsistent, and has been quite injury prone lately as well.

Chelsea deserve to be outside of the top 10. It’s mind-boggling how underwhelming they are, and how far they’ve fallen this season.

I quit watching this team (just follow the scores) cuz I'm tired of the same useless frauds

when I saw the added time and we were winning I figured quite likely we would still lose Proud

ETH gone after the Pool loss I imagine, need Ratcliffe to clean out the squad this summer or I won't even bother next season either

I thought you would win. It could’ve gone either way, but Garnacho’s second goal seemed like it knocked the wind out of their sails… until the injury time madness happened Laughing
