That Chelsea defender plays for Hamburg...I think it was him I saw playing against Sahlke, forgot his name tho.

The reasons to me that we have few Englishmen overseas would be:

Any quality English player will have already been snapped up by one of the big 4
The lack of talent in England
If they are going to move overseas it would have to be to a top club and most English players are not good enough for a top 3/4 club
Not willing to move away from family/native language
Already happy where they live
Most English players probably believe they are playing in the best league in the world

Depends, i'd say this only really rings true for players playing at the same club. You look at Spain or Germany and the bulk of their players are coming from the best 2-3 teams in the country yet the majority of the English squad comes from Liverpool who finished 8th domestically.

Guess you could say you'd expect more from Young/Welbeck/Rooney but Young didn't turn up.

They earn more in an English club than in a continental club (from what I gather, even younger English EPL players are paid pretty well, while for example in the Bundesliga the wages for young players are comparatively modest.)

Totally forgot that one! Was discussing it with my Dad the other day and mentioned that but forgot to write it down.

It's something to do with taxes aswelll isn't it?
