Not saying that the quote is true (most likely BULLSH*T) but it's hard to avoid playing in a club nowadays as a top professional without encountering people of many backgrounds. Racists who know how to play football will have a hard time dissecting their offers based on their intolerance towards people of a different color/ethnicity/religion etc.

And likewise, many players have played for clubs that are notorious. A recent example could be Klose joining <polite cough> Nazio.

As people have said before, Abidal, Keita and Afellay are muslim so why would he say that? Abidal is a strong muslim and if he was near villa he probably would have done something about it.
