Daniele De Rossi targeted by Man City

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini wants Daniele De Rossi to join Samir Nasri in a midfield dream team, capable of challenging on four fronts this season.


he Italian manager is on the verge of completing a £24million deal for Arsenal’s French playmaker, and already has Yaya Toure, Gareth Barry, James Milner, Nigel De Jong and David Silva at his disposal.

But Mancini isn’t content to stop at just signing Nasri, and admits he’s also desperate to add Roma’s combative anchorman to his already bulging midfield.

‘I need something else in midfield because we have limited options,’ said the City boss.

‘Daniele De Rossi would be absolutely perfect for this team and I rate him as one of the best midfielders in the world.

‘But I also have the suspicion that he will stay in Rome his entire career, just like Francesco Totti has done.

‘I have Barry, De Jong, Milner and Toure - but if you consider the number of games in the league, the Champions League and the FA Cup that is not enough.’

Doubt they're actually in for that POS, last year on City's US tour someone asked Mancini if they could find use for Landon Donovan and he said yes to that too.

It is enough. Seriously Mancini, I like your team but you know you don't really need De Rossi in any form of capacity...

Where does Adam Johnson stand in this midfield mix?

Man city team looks just crazy? they are becoming a big threat. I am not sure if its true but I think they are paying Nasri $220000 a week that's just out of this world.

Mancini wants to sign as much as players he can now next year he might not be able to buy or be at Man city, if they don't win.

It's absolutely stupid if they sign another expensive player after Nasri still in this window. They've already got fantastic players struggling to get games.

Plus I for one am very much looking forward to City's financial results after this season, there's no way in hell they're going to even nearly break-even, so that raises questions about FFP, too.

I hope UEFA do something about this now....City are going OTT now. I just don't know how Mancini can say the squad he has is "not enough". How about giving some of his younger players a chance instead of throwing money around at already established players.

FFP would be a joke if Man City qualify for it, seriously. People are also saying Chelsea but we have had plenty of time to slow down and that's what we have done and are currently doing by investing for the future- City I don't know.

And yet Totti has refused some incredibly lucrative offers in his long career. DDR has been far more susceptible, but I highly doubt he would leave just because another team flashes a boatload of cash at him. We would've lost him long ago in that case.

He has said in the past that he would only leave if the club forced him out. That's why Aquilani left in the first place: to help us balance our books. DDR has said he'd only leave if it would benefit the club. With our new hierarchy in place finally, he's the one player that will certainly NOT be forced out. Hence, he's going nowhere.

Exactly. The only reasons I could see him leaving for are the one you just pointed out or for personal issues if they persist. But even at this point, I don't see him leaving for that change of air. This past year was really really tough on him, but he toughed it out and he seems to already be doing better. He's moved on (or at least it seems as if he did from the pictures we posted in our section) and I really think he'll bounce back this season.

No other team in the world has that much depth, and who would DDR replace anyway? Yaya is good enough.

There's no point if the players coming through aren't good enough but we've recently adopted the tried and tested formula of stealing offering oppotunities to continental players to sign inflated contracts at the age of 16 so our EDS team should be an absolute force in this NEXTGEN tournament with our Spanish midfield.
