After initial rumours that the Chilean would join the Bavarians, Bayer Leverkusen revealed that they would not allow their prized asset to join another German club, but Vidal maintains he still had a choice in the matter.

"Why did I chose Juve over Bayern? Because Juventus is an institution, the maximum for any player," Vidal told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"I have found players like Alessandro Del Piero, Gianluigi Buffon and Andrea Pirlo. They are all phenomenons who are helping me greatly.

"This is a big chance to play with them and I can develop [as a player].

"Bayern also have great players, but Juventus are Juventus. And, I also wanted to play football in Italy as football there has a great passion, just like in Chile."

Juventus were set to meet Udinese on Sunday night with Vidal expected to make his Serie A debut, but all of the weekend's top-flight fixtures were cancelled due to a players strike after the failure between the players association (AIC), and football league (Lega) to reach an agreement over a new collective contract.
